a. Chief elected official. This phrase refers to the Chairman <br /> of the Board of County Comn~issioners of the Party of the <br /> First Part and to the Chairman of the Board of Commissi~fiers of <br /> the Party of the Second Part. In the absence of such official, <br /> the term shall refer to the person authorized to act in his stead <br /> in case of absence. <br /> <br /> b. Requested party. This phrase refers to a party to this <br /> agreement which at the time in question has received a request <br /> for law enforcement assistance from the other party to this <br /> agreenqent. <br /> <br /> c. Recluest for law enforcement assistance. This phra'se refers <br /> to a request made by the chief elected official of a requesting <br /> party to the chief elected official of a requested party that the <br /> requested p~rty send to the requesting party one or more of the <br /> following: (1~ law enforcement officers; (2) equip~Ttent, supplies, <br /> or materials that may be of use in preserving or restoring order; <br /> (3) or other personnel, goods, or services needed by a requesting <br /> party in cases of emergency. The request may be made orally <br /> or in writing and may be delivered directly or indirectly, in <br /> person, by messenger, by telephone, by.telegraph, by radio, <br /> or otherwise. If the request is made orally, it shall at the same <br /> time be reduced to writing and mailed, telegraphed, or delivered <br /> to the chief elected official of the requested party. The chief <br /> elected official of the requested party need not wait for the receipt <br /> of written confirmation of the request, however, before taking <br /> action. <br /> <br /> d. Requesting party. This phrase refers to a party to this <br /> agreement which at the time in question (1~ is suffering from <br /> an emergency requiring or likely to require a greater level of <br /> law enforcement effort than it can provide, (2~ has, through its <br /> chief elected official, declared that a state of emergency exists, <br /> and (3/ has initiated a request for law enforcement assistance <br /> from the other party to this agreement. <br /> <br /> e. Sending party. This phrase refers to a requested party <br /> which has, in the manner specified in this agreement, agreed <br /> to send part or all of the law enforcement assistance requested <br /> by the requesting party. <br /> <br /> 2. When the chief elected official of a party to this agreen~ent determines <br />in his discretion that his political subdivision is faced with ernergency conditions <br />requiring or likely to require a greater level of law enforcement effort than can <br /> <br /> <br />
