The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session <br /> at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, October 2~ 1972 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Cou~nissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Invocation was by Commissioner Hammett. <br /> Minutes of the September 12, 1972 meeting were read and approved. <br /> Mrs. Janet Magaldi asked for the Commissioners' permission to make a <br /> feasibility study relative to the renovation of the Courthouse for use as a <br /> museum. The Board gave an unofficial endorsement to go ahead with the study. <br /> Hammett made a motion to adopt the Resolution concerning the "Cabarrus 500" <br /> stock car race. Motion seconded by James and unanimously carried. This resolution <br /> is recorded on page 165 and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> Roy Davis, Chairman of the Concord City School Board, asked that the <br /> Commissioners meet in working sessions with all the school boards to discuss the <br /> critical needs of the schools. This recommendation was taken under advisement. <br /> The following bids were opened for the purchase of five (5) police cars for <br /> Law Enforcement= <br /> Bill Dove Motor Company, Inc. $16,932.00 <br /> Art Thomas Chevrolet 14,499.00 <br /> Hilbish Motor Company 15,574.15 <br /> Wright Motor Company 16,313.00 <br /> Wtl-Mar Dodge, Inc. 16,452.80 <br /> , <br /> Motion by McClary, seconded by H~m~ett to accept the iow bid of $14,499.00 of Art <br /> Thomas Chevrolet. Vote carried. <br /> George Monaghan, Local Council of Government representative, along with <br /> Rudolph Davis, Recreation Director, appeared to discuss the recreational needs of <br /> the County. <br /> Gallimore made motion, seconded by McClary to adopt the Rules of Procedure <br /> for the Cabarrus County Community Relations Commission as amended 9/14/72. Vote <br /> carried. These rules are recorded on page 166 and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> The Board also approved the lease of the Building on 115 Union Street South for <br /> the Community Relations Commission. <br /> Dr. Ladd Hamrick asked for a commitment to the fact that a need exists for <br /> the construction and funding of a new Health Department. The Board asked that <br /> Architect Griffin make a study as to the possibility of renovating the present <br /> building before a decision is made to build a new one. <br /> Albert Klimas presented a draft for an "Ordinance Governing the Management <br /> of Liquid Waste in Cabar=us County, North Carolina". <br />\ <br /> <br /> <br />
