171 <br /> <br /> T~e Board of Con~nissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session <br /> <br />at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, December 4, 1972 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> 3ohn A. Hammett <br /> <br /> The invocation was by the Revemend Jeffrey Wampler of First Presbyterian <br />Church of Concord. <br /> <br /> Hanm~ett made motion to re-appoint Hawfield Chairman and McClary Vice-~hairman. <br />James seconded the motion and vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> The minutes of November 6, 1972 were read and approved. <br /> <br /> Mr. R. E. Fisher stated that the Southwood Park Community was having sewer <br />problems; and he felt the problem could be solved by the creation of a sanitary district. <br />Fisher also stated that the county needed some long range planning which could be brought <br />about by the re-activation of the planning and zoning board. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion, seconded by Hammett, to adopt the resolution concerning <br />farm land assessment. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> The following bids were opened and read for patrol pursuit tires and tubes: <br />Carolina Tire Company - tires - $26.67, tubes - $2.38 <br /> <br />Whitakers Tire Service,~Inc. - tires - $24.95, tubes - $1.75, recaps - $1.50 <br /> <br />Firestone Tire & Rubber Company - tires - $31.09, recaps - $1.50 <br /> <br />Earl's Tire Store, Inc. - tires - $35.00, tubes - $2.00, recaps - $3.00 <br /> <br />McClary made motion to accept bid of Firestone Tire & Rubber Company which was the lowest <br />bid on the tire specified. Motion seconded by Galltmore and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Bids for gasoline were opened and read. They were: <br /> <br />Holding Bros., Inc. - .288 per gallon <br />Carolina Oil Co., Inc. - .2590 per gallon <br />Central Distributing Co. - .277 per gallon <br /> <br />Hammett made motion, seconded by Gallimore, to accept bid for Carolina Oil Co., Inc. of, <br />.2590 per gallon which was the low bid. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> The following bids were opened and read for fuel oil: <br /> <br />Carolina Oil Co., Inc. - .1390 per gallon <br />Central Distributing Co. - .1287 per gallon <br />Holding Bros., Inc. - .126 per gallon <br /> <br />Motion by Hammett to accept low bid of .126 per gallon from Holding Bros., Inc. Motion <br />seconded by Galltmore and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Hammett made motion to endorse the idea of group living in the community for <br /> <br /> <br />
