' - - ~he Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus .met in ' ~ <br /> <br />regular session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina at 9:00. a.m. <br /> <br />on February 5, 1973. <br /> <br /> Present -Cha~i'man: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Ga llimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend Marion Start of Kimball Memorial <br /> <br />Lutheran Church. <br /> <br />Minutes of the January 8, 1973 meeting were read and approved. <br />A group of representatives from the Odell School district, <br />Rachel Christy, Lois Marlow, Frances Ha~tsell, Frances Lentz, Peggy Overcash, <br />Lee McGraw, Nancy Hefner and AliThigpen, presented a petition which stated, <br />"We the undersigned request that the County Commissioners appropriate the <br />funds for the badly needed temporary classrooms in the County School System. <br />We hope these classrooms will be ready for the fall term." This petition <br />was signed by 890 people. <br /> <br /> Gallimore made motion that the County Plumbing Inspector assume <br /> <br />plumbing inspection within the Kannapolis Sanitary District effective <br /> <br />April 1, 1973. The motion was seconded by Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Hammett made motion, seconded by McClary, to accept the <br /> <br />Memorial Hall report as submitted. Vote carried. This report is recorded <br /> <br />on page 186 and becomes a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> The Board acknowledged a letter from Cabarrus Memorial Hospital <br /> <br />asking for 2¢ per $~00 tax valuation to be paid to the hospital and 6¢ <br />per $100 tax valuation for charity work as matching funds for medical <br />benefits. Action was deferred until budget time. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion authorizing Chairman Hawfield, Attorney <br /> <br />Boger and Albert Klimas to meet with Fleming's Attorneys and report the <br /> <br />results at the next meeting. Motion seconded by Gallimore and vote ~arried. <br /> <br /> Motion by McClary, seconded by Galtimore, and carried that <br /> <br />Harmnett be appointed Polictical Action Committee representative. <br /> <br /> McClary made motion to support Senate Bill No. 69 calling for <br /> ratio <br />100% ~oe~mem~ of appraised value by all counties in North Carolina. <br /> <br /> <br />
