~MOPIAL HALL P2~PORT - 1972 <br /> <br /> Memorial Hall was the setting for many activities in 1972. <br /> <br /> Several groups- Alcoholics Anonymous, War Mothers, and Concord Civic <br />Garden Council - held their regular meetings here. <br /> <br /> The Red Cross Executive Council, the Art Guild, Memorial Library Com- <br />mittee, Inter-city Alcoholics Anonymous each held several meetings in the <br />Hall. <br /> <br /> Two teachers from R. Brown McAllister School sent students during <br /> <br />school hours to work on special assignments. Teachers from the Concord Acad- <br />emy -4,5,8 grades-, Odell - 5grade-, Beverly Hills -5 grade, Coltrane-Webb - <br />2 grade, brought their students on a tour of Memorial Hall and Librany. The <br />Curator talked to each group telling them something of the significance of <br />relics displayed and also something of the County's early history. <br /> <br />Leaders of the Head Start Program at Allen, Bethel, Coltrane-Webb <br />schools brought their children to see museum and ask questions of the Curator. <br /> <br /> Seventy - three kindergarten pupils from Harrisburg, China Grove, and <br />First Presbyterian Church', Concord, along with those of the City Play School <br />visited the Museum. <br /> <br /> The 'Public Library held their Coffee and Book Review during Library <br /> <br />Week in the Hall with ninety persons present. <br /> <br /> A Barber - Scotia professor has brought a number of out of state friends <br />visiting him to see the Museum and Mural. A Rowan County woman brough two <br />Japaneese friends from Kumamoto, Japan, These women had studied the War <br />Between the States and w~most interested in seeing and hearing about the <br />relics. <br /> <br /> During the summer months, many children and parents come in to browse <br /> <br />in the museum and library. Many adults also use the library for referance. <br />The curator has also helped a number with genealogical records. <br /> <br /> Five very valuable books - "A Diary from Dixie", "Confederate Veteran <br />Index", "N. C. Troops 1861-1865", Vol.2, "Human Interest Stories - Gettysburg" <br />and a facsimile of "The Constitution for the Provisional Government of the <br />Confederate States of America" - have been added to the library this year. <br /> <br /> The Curator keeps the Hall clean and ready for use.
