196 <br /> <br /> - The Board of Equalization and Review for Cabarrus County met and were sworn in by the <br /> <br /> Clerk of Superior Court for the County of Cabarrus. Board members sworn in were: <br /> <br /> Chairman S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Tax Supervisor Terry~ Rowland <br /> <br /> UpOn completion of the swearing in ceremonies, Hammett made motion to adjourn until <br /> <br /> notified of subsequent me%tings by the Tax Supervisor. Motion seconded by James. Vote <br /> <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield reconvened the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners for <br /> <br /> the County of Cabarrus. <br /> <br /> Mr. Terry Rowland, Tax Supervisor, appeared before the Commissioners relative to the <br /> <br /> tax discounts for fiscal year 1973/74. Gallimore made motion to extend tax discount <br /> period for fiscal year 1973/74 as follows: 2X through August 4, 1973 and 1½% to <br /> August 31, 1973. Motion seconded by James. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> County Recreation Director, Mr. Rudy Davis, appeared before the Board and presented <br /> <br /> an agreement between Cabarrus County and the Cabarrus County Board of Education with <br /> respect to mutual cooperation in a program of community recreation. Upon completion of <br /> the discussion, McClary made motion that the "Agreement for School-Community Cooperation" <br /> be approved. Motion seconded by Gallimore. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett discussed the County Recreation Department's Summer Playground <br /> <br /> Program which will be piloted at Bethel and Odell Schools this summer, and the Mt. Pleasant <br /> School program which is a continuation from the previous year. Hammett made motion that <br /> the County Recreation Budget be amended and appropriate an additional $2,000.00 for fiscal <br /> year 1972/73 to defray the costs of developing the summer program. Motion seconded by <br /> Gallimore. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Gallimore discussed the 11¢ per capita membership assessment imposed <br /> <br /> by the Centralina Council of Governments for fiscal year 1973/74. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Gallimore discussed the forthcoming Chamber of Commerce and Centraltna <br /> <br /> Council of Governments' co-sponsored educational meeting to be held at 7:30 p.m. on <br /> <br /> Thursday, April 5, 1973, at Central Cabarrus High School. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Gallimore discussed a letter from Crum & Forster Insurance Companies <br /> <br /> relative to the availability of Flood Insurance for County residents. Attorney Boger was <br /> requested to investigate the requirements for making Flood Insurance available to County <br /> residents. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett discussed the PAC Conference which was held in Raleigh, N.C., <br /> <br /> on April 12, 1973. <br /> <br /> <br />
