The Board of Cou~uissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session at the <br />Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, May 7, 1973, at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> Charles Gallimore <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend R. E. Sides, Bethany United Methodist Church. <br /> <br /> Minutes of the April 2,1973, meeting were read and approved. <br /> <br /> County Attorney, John Boger, Jr., reported on the Fleming Garbage Franchise dispute. <br />Boger stated that he would file suit in court to force Fleming to comply with the boundary <br />lines granted in the franchise. <br /> <br /> County Attorney, John Boger, Jr., discussed a Model Housing Ordinance. Motion by <br /> <br />James to refer the Model Housing Ordinance to the County's Planning and Zoning Board for <br />study with subsequent report to the Board. Seconded by Gallimore. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> George Griffin, architect, and Mrs. Mary Anne Hammond with J. N. Pease Company, reported <br />on the progress of the interior plans for the new courthouse. The report was interrupted <br />by Chairman Hawfield, and continuation of the report was deferred to accept bids for <br />excavation work for the new courthouse. <br /> <br /> Bids were accepted and opened for the excavation work on the new courthouse. Bids <br />submitted were from: <br /> <br /> Joe Ervin Grading Company $11,555.00 <br /> Propst Construction Company 12,750.00 <br /> Jacob H. H. Sloop Hauling & Grading Company 9,000.00 <br /> Widenhouse House Movers, Inc. 7,880.00 <br /> <br /> Motion by Hammett, seconded by James to accept the low bid submitted by Widenhouse <br />House Movers, Inc., in the amount of $7,880.00. Vote carried unanimously. <br /> <br /> George Griffin, a~chitect, and Mrs. Mary Anne Hammond with J. N. Pease Company, con- <br />tinued and concluded the progress report on the interior of the new courthouse. Bids were <br />accepted and opened for furnishing Landfill Equipment to the County as follows: <br /> <br /> Western Carolina Tractor Company <br /> Rubber Tire Tractor ........................................ $45,649.00 <br /> Compactor ................................................... No bid <br /> <br /> E. F. Craven Company <br /> Rex 3-50 Trashmaster ....................................... $58,980.00 <br /> Rubber Tire Tractor ........................................ 43,216.00 <br /> Fire Ex tinguishing System for Rubber Tire Tractor ......... 850.00 <br /> <br /> Interstate Equipment Company <br /> Compactor ............................ No bid <br /> Rubber Tire Tractor ........................................ $~4,640.00 <br /> Fire Extinguishing System for Rubber Tire Tractor ..........
