County Attorney, John Boger, Jr.,'was requested to <br /> compare the proposals received with the specifications advertised for the landfill <br /> equipment. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfteld opened public hearing for the abondonment of portions of two county <br /> <br /> roads. County Attorney, John Boger, Jr., presented resolutions for the abandonment of <br /> portions of two county roads that had been abondoued by the State Highway Commission, <br /> Secondary Roads Division. <br /> <br /> (1) 3,250 ft. of Prison Camp Road <br /> (2) 1,500 ft. of Portion of Old Sam Black Road - SR 1127 <br /> <br /> Motion by Gallimore, seconded by McClary that the resolutions be adopted except that <br /> <br /> the resolution for Old Sam Black Road (SR 1127) be modified as follows~ "except that <br /> the portion of said road from SR 1132 to the northwest cerner of the g. G. Simpson property <br /> is not closed". Vote carried unanimously. These resolutions are recorded on page 198 and <br /> become a part of these minutes. <br /> <br /> Dr. Bradshaw, Superintendent of the Kannapolis City Schools, and Mr. Henry Duncan, <br /> <br /> Mr. Joe Mingo, Mr. Raymond Ward, Mr. Der--wood Bost, and Mr. Homer Friday, members of the <br /> Kannapolis City School Board, appeared before the Board and presented the immediate and <br /> future needs of the Kannapolis City Schools. <br /> <br /> Dr. Mclntosh, President of Central Piedmont Community College and Mr. Paul C. Kirby <br /> <br /> presented a report on the Data Processing feasibility study for Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Dr. Mclntosh concluded that Cabarrus County could justify the installation of a computer <br /> center. Commissioner Gallimore complimented Dr. Mclntoshaathe comprehensiveness of the <br /> report. No action was taken. Board will study the report in depth. <br /> <br /> Mathey Davis, Planner with the N. C. Division of Co~manity Planning, appeared before <br /> <br /> the Board at the request of Chairman S~ Glenn Hawfield, Jr., regarding the possibility of <br /> utilizing his services in the planning & zoning of the County. Mathey Davis reported on <br /> the function of his agency with respect to local goverraments and the method of finance <br /> Mathey Davis stated he would study the County's needs and would report to the Board on <br /> a land use plan, subdivision regulation, zoning around Reed Gold Mine and Kannapolis, and <br /> a Zoning Ordinance. Mathey Davis recommended that the Planning & Zoning of the County <br /> should be on a need basis, so that the support of local inhabitants could be solicited. <br /> No formal action taken, pending the results of the forthcoming report.
