The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in ~egular session at the <br /> <br />Courthouse in Concordt North Carolinat on November 5, 1973 at 9~00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman~ S, Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners~ Robert A. NcClary <br /> Charles Gallimore ....... ~ <br /> C. Frank James <br /> John i. Hammett <br /> <br /> Invocation was by the Reverend Narvin Honeycutt of Bethlehem Baptist Church. <br /> <br /> The Board gave Nra. Nell Deese their best wishes in her efforts to create a humane <br /> <br />society for animals in Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> Reverend Koehneke appaared before the Board requesting clarification of certain <br /> <br />terms in the equal opportunity employment resolution. <br /> <br /> J. Harold Nash~ representing the Community Relations Commissiont asked the Board <br /> <br />to consider adopting the model housing code. <br /> <br /> NcClarymade motiont seconded by Gallimore~ to accept the proposal for youth <br /> <br />representation on the Con, unity Relations Coa~aission as presented at their meeting <br /> <br />on September 12~ 1973. Vote carried. <br /> <br /> Bids for co~aunications equipment for the Cabarrus County Ambulance Service yore <br /> <br />received as follows~ <br /> <br /> RCA Tvo-Way Radio Service ~15~663.43 <br /> General Electric ~16~363.33 <br /> <br />After examining the bids~ Nr. Cliff Blalock and Nr. Elsberry Holcmabe of the Governorts ~ <br />Highway Safety Program advised that both bids were complete and that Tvo-way Radio /I <br />Service (RCA) had the low bids Vote carried unanimously, j <br /> Pursuant to a request from William Irvin~ Superintendent of Concord City Schoolst <br />H,~ett made motion giving permission to purchase tvo tracts of land that is held <br />under option and tentative approval to a third tract of land to be paid for with <br />revenue sharing funds. Notion seconded by James and vote carried. <br /> The Board received a letter which r&ad in part~ "~ow~ thereforet be it resolved <br />that we the members of Jackson Park Baptist Church~ ~nnapolis~ North Ca~olina~ go -- <br />on record against the promotion~ participationt and running of car races in Cabarrus <br />County on Sunday. And be it further resolved that we object to the using of school <br />children to promote the s~e.# Attorney Boser was asked to research the matter. <br /> Galli~ore made motion that Hawfield represent the Board at the November l&~ 1973 <br />m~etin~ of the Planning and Zonin~ Board to discuss the proposed'Csbarrus County <br />subdivision regulations. Notion seconded by James and vote carried. <br /> Galli~ore made ~otion~ seconded by Ja~es~ that NcClary and County Ad~lnistrator <br /> <br />Wade determine if it vould be feasible to contract Burlington N~nagemant Servies to ~ <br />computerize the Countyts t~x collections.
