<br /> ..... North Carolina authorizes the CO-~'~ ssion for .Nental Health Services to
<br /> es,~ablish area mental health programs throughoUt the state; and
<br /> WHEREA~, the North Carolina Department of Human Resources and
<br /> co,~nties included in designated areas are Jointly authorized under Gert,
<br /> ..~.~..,~. Sta~ .tUtes sections 122-35,19 et s,ec~ to participate in and support area
<br /> '~.'~- .... mentml health programs and to create and establish area mental health
<br />
<br /> .'~ .~.-.?..:..~ ...., boards to provide such services; and
<br />
<br /> - ~[E~, Cabarrus County and Union County have heretofore conduc ~ed
<br />
<br />" ... a Joint mental health program under the name of Piedmont Mental Health
<br /> '' Complex, and Stanly County and Anson County have heretofore conducted
<br />"i.-... ... Join~ mental .health program under the name of Yadkin - Poe Dee Mental ealth
<br /> Center; and
<br />
<br /> j WHEREAS,, the Comminsion fori~ental Health Bervices has design&t,
<br /> the counties of Cabarrus, Stanly, and Union as a new basic unit for th~
<br /> development of mental health programs to serve the population of that
<br /> geographic area, the same to be effective July 1, 1975; and
<br /> WHE~, the services not otherwise available under mental heail
<br /> authoritities are available under the area mental health program; and
<br /> WHEREAS, such additional services are deemed of ~emefit to the
<br /> residents of Cabarrus County, Stanly County, and Union County; and
<br /> ~EtEREAS, the County Commissioners for the three co~aties herein~ bore
<br /> named believe that it would be in the beat interest of the residents
<br /> ~ said counties to esta~Blish the new three county mental health program
<br /> prior to the 1st, of July, 1975,
<br /> NOW, T~,RE, be it resolved Joi~tly by the Board of the Coun~
<br /> Commissioners of Cabarrus County, Stanly County, and Union County:
