294 <br /> <br /> Bobby Batson, Public Relations Director at Charlotte Motor Speedway, stated that according <br /> to past records at the Speedway, he would estimate that 30 people might need hospital care. He <br /> stated that the promoters were only estimating attendance at between 90,000 and 100,000 people. <br /> He, also, stated that the restroom facilities at the Charlotte Motor Speedway would be open for <br /> those who came early and that the Speedway was built to handle a large number of people and felt <br /> as if there would be enough concession and sanitary facilities to care for the people. <br /> <br /> The following resolution was introduced by Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Hammett, and duly adopted by the unanimous vote of all Commissioners present: <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an action was instituted in the United States District Court for the <br /> Middle District of North Carolina on or about the 3rd day of July,1974, entitled <br /> "Textile Workers Union of America, AFL-CIO-CLC, and Pauline Freeman, Plaintiffs, v. <br /> Cannon Mills, Inc., Robert Ketchie, Darrell Cunningham, Lee Polk, J. B. Roberts, and <br /> Fred Wilson, Defendants"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Defendant J. B. Roberts is Sheriff, and Defendants Robert Ketchie, <br /> Darrell Cunningham, and Lee Polk are Deputy Sheriffs and employees of Cabarrus <br /> County; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the complaint in said action as to Defendants Robert Ketchie, Darrell <br /> Cunningham, Lee Polk and J. B. Roberts alleged matters which purportedly arose out <br /> of their employment by Cabarrus County; <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County assume the <br /> responsibility for the defense of said action as to Defendants Ketchie, Cunningham, <br /> Polk, and Roberts. <br /> <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that County Attorney John R. Boger, Jr., and his firm <br /> <br /> of Williams, Willeford, Boger & Grady be retained by the Board to appear as attorneys <br /> to defend said action in their behalf. <br /> <br /> Having no further business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> Clerk ~o the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
