3 ,1 <br /> <br /> Charles Riddle, Executive Director of United Way, asked that the United Way Fund donations be <br /> <br />collected through payroll deductions on county employees. <br /> <br /> After a discussion by Terry Rowland, Tax Supervisor, Commissioner Hammett made motion, seconded <br /> <br />by Commissioner James, to leave the dog tax as is, with a male dog tax of one dollar and a female <br />dog tax of two dollars. Voted for: Commissioners James and Hammett; voted against: Chairman <br />Hawfield and Commissioners McClary and Gallimore. <br /> <br /> Terry Rowland, Tax Supervisor, asked how he was to handle several letters from churchs and <br /> <br />other civic organizations, that is they had filed an exemption certificate would be exempted from <br />taxes. He was instructed that he should have them fill out an exemption certificate and then come <br />before the board with the request, so they can act on each request individually. <br /> <br /> Pursuant to a letter of request from May Martha Marks of Harrisburg, Commissioner Hammett made <br /> <br />motion that the County building inspector serve as building inspector for Harrisburg for fees that <br />are collected on building permits. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote unanimously <br />carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett read a letter from Robert Wayne Alexander stating that he would like to <br /> <br />have a county gold course considered in the recreation program. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to appoint Mrs. Frances B. Keever as a member of the Community <br /> <br />Relations 6ommission instead of Dr. R. S. Stephens who could not accept the position. Motion seconded!i <br /> <br />by Commissioner Gallimore and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Mildred Morgan, Chairwoman of the Board of Social Services; Frances Long, Director of Social <br /> <br />Services; Willial R. Wade, County Administrator; and George Griffin, Architect, were appointed to a <br /> <br />committee to determine the best use of the available floor space for this department. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Gallimore made motion, secQnded by Commissioner James and carried, to accept the <br /> <br />request for addition to the Secondary Road System for Lynnwood Drive, Roanoke Drive, Quail Hollow <br /> <br />Park #3, Sleepy Hollow Drive and Ichabod Circle. <br /> <br /> Upon motion by Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner McClary, to adopt an Ordinance <br /> <br />to Amend the 1973-74 Annual Operating Budget. Vote carried unanimously. This Ordinance is recorded <br /> <br />on pages 309 thru 339 <br /> <br /> Upon motion by Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner James and carried to allow <br /> <br />William R. Wade, Budget Officer, to write-off "Tax Collector-Real Estate Account in the amount of <br />$279.50" reported in the Cabarrus County Audit Report, dated June 30, 1973. This action was <br />recommended by Daniel and Daniel, Certified Public Accountants who have conducted the County's <br />annual audit for the past ten years.
