were 22,000 taxpayers with approximately 33,000 parcels of property and that the final <br />amount was set by one of four men with at least fifteen years experience in the <br />business. Associated Surveys has been in business in North Carolina since 1954. <br />Hester futher stated that the protests were equally divided between farm land and <br />residential properties. <br /> <br /> James L. Cole, Attorney for a fifteen member committee, presented two petitions <br /> <br />containing approximately 2,000 signed names requesting that the appraisal be reviewed. <br /> <br /> Several people from the audience wanted to ask questions but they were dealing <br /> <br />in specific cases so the Board asked that these questions be directed to the tax <br /> <br />supervisor's office. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made a motion to recommend to the proper state and federal <br />authorities that the bids for construction of the Mental Health Complex be awarded to <br />the low bidders. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hinson and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner McClary and carried, <br /> <br />the following road petitions were approved: Request for additions - Pebble Brook <br /> <br />Acres, Andrews Avenue and Allen Acres and Request for paving - Oaktrail Circle. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to give William R. Wade, County Administrator, <br /> <br />permission to advertise for sale of a patrol car at public auction. Motion seconded <br /> <br />by Commissioner Hinson and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hinson permission was granted to advertise for bids <br /> <br />for a record system for law enforcement. Commissioner McClary seconded the motion and <br /> <br />vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to deny the request for $4,300.00 and two new <br /> <br />employees from the Logan Day Care Center be denied because no funds are available. <br /> <br />Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Having no futher business, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br /> ' Clog to the 36ard <br /> <br /> <br />
