The Board felt the County should not construct the signs
free of charge, since this would set a precedent for making signs for other private
organizations.

Chairman Hawfield reported that a company had been contracted to install a storm

sewer at Cabarrus Memorial Hospital and that work should proceed shortly.

Upon motion of Commissioner Hinson, seconded by Commissioner McClary and unanimously

carried, to adopt the following resolution:

WHEREAS, the Cabarrus County Commissioners desire to change the date

of their regular monthly meeting to the first Thursday after the first

Monday of each month;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that, under the provisions of the N. C.

G. S. 153A-40, the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus
County be held in the regular meeting room at the Courthouse in Concord on
the first Thursday after the first Monday in each month at 9:00 A.M.
beginning with the regular meeting for the month of August 1975.

Dot Barbee requested that the County pay their share of her retirement from 1952

to 1956 during which time she was employed by the Clerk of Court. The retirement
benefit was optional during this time and she had elected not to take it since she
was not familiar with the benefits. After a discussion Commissioner McClary made a
motion to table the matter and take it under advisement. Commissioner Hinson seconded
the motion and vote carried.

At 10:00 A.M., Chairman Hawfield announced that this was the time and place for a

public hearing on the 1975/76 proposed budget. No one appeared. He then declared that

the public hearing was closed.

After a discussion of the budget and possible changes, Commissioner Hammett made

motion to adopt the budget ordinance as presented by County Administrator, William R. Wade.

Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote unanimously carried.
