The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Thursday, October 9, 1975 at 9:00 a.m. Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. Commissioners: Robert A. McClary John A. Hammett Marcelle Milloway Roger G. Hinson The invocation was by Commissioner Milloway. Upon motion of Commissioner Hinson, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and carried, the minutes of the September 4 and October 2, 1975 meetings were corrected and approved. Chairman Hawfield presented planning and coordination certificates to Flay Kiser Civil Preparedness Coordinator and Gerri Nash, Secretary. Flay Kiser presented a resolution establishing the Civil Preparedness office. The Board will study the resolution and take action at their next meeting. The Board accepted and read the following bids for food for the Nutrition for the Elderly Program: Vendor Delivered Picked-up Gourmet Services, Inc. $1.77 $1.56 Servomation Corp. 1.575 1.431 Gemni Food Service 1.847 1.6304 Dynteria, Inc. 1.87 1.65 Margaret's Grill 1.65 1.55 The bids will be examined and awarded at the next meeting. Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Hinson and carried, the following students were appointed to the Community relations Commission: Connie Moose Mt. Pleasant High School Rhonda Myers A.L. Brown High School Cynthia Ann Hodges Central Cabarrus High School Sue Ann Caldwell Northwest Cabarrus High School The Board discussed the dedication of the new Courthouse which is to be held on November 2, 1975 at 2:00 p.m.. Mr. Albert Coates is to be the speaker for the dedication. Commissioner Milloway made motion that Commissioner Hammett be appointed the co-ordinator for the dedication. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. Chairman Hawfield was authorized to contact Grier-Fripp Associates, Inc. to proceed with getting the landscaping done at the new Mental Health and Public Health Centers. Reverend Jon Fogleman requested that support be given to the Community Relation Commission. William Mills, Jr., Attorney for Carolyn Goodman, requested that the County pay or allow her to pay retirement funds for the time worked in the Clerk of Courts Office between 1950 and 1956. Commissioner Hinson made motion that the County recognize the six years of service and authorize her to pay both the County's share and her share at no expense to the County and if the County's policy every changes they will reconsider her position. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. Rebecca Yarbrough, COG representative, briefly discussed their activities. Upon motion of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Hinson and carried, the Board adjourned and reconvened in the New Courthouse.
