The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session at the <br /> <br />Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Thursday, October 9, 1975 at 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Roger G. Hinson <br /> <br /> The invocation was by Commissioner Milloway. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hinson, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and carried, the <br /> <br />minutes of the September 4 and October 2, 1975 meetings were corrected and approved. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield presented planning and coordination certificates to Flay Kiser Civil <br /> <br />Preparedness Coordinator and Gerri Nash, Secretary. Flay Kiser presented a resolution <br />establishing the Civil Preparedness office. The Board will study the resolution and take <br />action at their next meeting. <br /> <br /> The Board accepted and read the following bids for food for the Nutrition for the <br /> <br />Elderly Program: <br /> <br /> Vendor Delivered Picked-up <br /> <br /> Gourmet Services, Inc. $1.77 $1.56 <br /> Servomation Corp. 1.575 1.431 <br /> Gemni Food Service 1.847 1.6304 <br /> Dynteria, Inc. 1.87 1.65 <br /> Margaret's Grill 1.65 1.55 <br /> <br /> The bids will be examined and awarded at the next meeting. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Hinson and carried, the <br /> <br />following students were appointed to the Community relations Commission: <br /> <br /> Connie Moose Mt. Pleasant High School <br /> Rhonda Myers A.L. Brown High School <br /> Cynthia Ann Hodges Central Cabarrus High School <br /> Sue Ann Caldwell Northwest Cabarrus High School <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the dedication of the new Courthouse which is to be held on <br /> <br />November 2, 1975 at 2:00 p.m.. Mr. Albert Coates is to be the speaker for the dedication. <br />Commissioner Milloway made motion that Commissioner Hammett be appointed the co-ordinator <br />for the dedication. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield was authorized to contact Grier-Fripp Associates, Inc. to proceed <br /> <br />with getting the landscaping done at the new Mental Health and Public Health Centers. <br /> <br /> Reverend Jon Fogleman requested that support be given to the Community Relation <br /> <br />Commission. <br /> <br /> William Mills, Jr., Attorney for Carolyn Goodman, requested that the County pay <br /> <br />or allow her to pay retirement funds for the time worked in the Clerk of Courts Office <br />between 1950 and 1956. Commissioner Hinson made motion that the County recognize the <br />six years of service and authorize her to pay both the County's share and her share at <br />no expense to the County and if the County's policy every changes they will reconsider <br />her position. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Rebecca Yarbrough, COG representative, briefly discussed their activities. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Hinson and carried, <br /> <br /> the Board adjourned and reconvened in the New Courthouse. <br /> <br /> <br />
