Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by <br /> <br />Commissioner Hinson and carried, the request was tabled until budget time. <br /> <br /> A lease with Robert L. Burrage for rental space in the Coca Cola Building at a <br /> <br />price of $350.00 per month was approved. <br /> <br /> At 11:00 a.m. the bids for the demolition of the Old Cabarrus County Courthouse <br /> <br />additions were opened and read. <br /> <br /> Contractor Bid <br /> <br /> Dunn-Foster and Spainhour $15,726.00 <br /> Finney & Shoaf Grading & Landscaping 11,700.00 <br /> D. Motion seconded by Commissioner <br />Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> W. P. Ferris, Inc., represented by Bill Ferris, President, told about his firm <br /> <br />which is a consultant for proper computer hardware and computerized appraisal programs. <br /> Robert Willey, of Daniel & Willey, presented the audit for the fiscal year 1974/75. <br /> The Board discussed the un-collected taxes and decided to try to collect them. <br /> Attorney John Boger and Tax Collector Ray McKinney are to present a proposed plan for <br /> collection of these taxes at the February meeting. <br /> <br /> Fred Craven presented William F. Morgan and asked that the Board endor se him as <br /> <br />the new county ranger. Commissioner Hinson made motion authorizing Chairman Hawfield to <br />write a letter endorsing William F. Morgan as the new County Forest Ranger. Motion <br />seconded by Commissioner Milloway and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Following the provisions of G. S. 105-325, Commissioner Milloway made motion to <br /> <br />give permission to Terry Rowland, Tax Supervisor, to notify W. G. Rumple, Jr. and <br /> <br />Cannon Mills of an increase in their valuation due to an error in the original appraisal. <br /> <br />Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to reduce the 1975 value of property for <br /> <br />R. C. Williams, Jr., as requested by Terry Rowland, Tax Supervisor. Motion seconded by <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hinson and vote carried. <br /> <br /> The Cabarrus County and Concord City Boards of Education discussed their problems. <br /> <br /> Cabarrus County has an increase in stndents and needs additional school space and Concord <br /> City has a decrease in students and has had to close two schools. The Board of <br /> Commissioners explained that the proposed merger had been turned down because it would <br /> cost the county too much money. After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that represent- <br /> atives from the three boards would get together and try to come up with a plan of action <br /> by budget time. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hinson made motion authorizing Chairman Hawfield to sign the memorandum <br /> <br /> <br />
