The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in special session at the <br />Courthouse in Concord, N. C. on Thursday, June 17, 1976 at 9:00 a.m.. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milleway <br /> <br /> Absent - Commissioner: Roger G. Hinson <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to advance $1,500.00 to Community Relations Commission <br />to operate their summer food service program. Motion seconded by Commissioner Milloway and <br />vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to accept the recommendation of the architect to award <br />the landscaping contract for Mental Health and Ambulance satellite buildings to the iow <br />bidders. Commissioner Hammett seconded the motion and vote carried. <br /> <br /> The Board decided to fund through CETA the requests by Third Centmry Artists for two <br />employees. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner McClary & carried, <br />authorization to sign the water contract for the new Health ~epartment building with the <br />City of Concord Board of Light and Water Commissioners. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to award the Public Health landscaping bid to the <br /> <br />low bidders. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Cecil Jenkins, attorney on behalf of Roger G. Hinson who was also present, read the <br />following letter from Roger G. Hinson: <br /> <br /> TO: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> Chairman of Cabarrus County Commissioners <br /> <br /> I feel that it is in the best interest of my family and the citizens of Cabarrus <br />County that I resign as a Cabarrus County Commissioner~ <br /> <br /> Please accept my resignation as a Cabarrus County Commissioner effective <br />i~mediately. <br /> <br /> This the 17th day of June, 1976. <br /> <br /> /S/ Ro~er G. Hinson <br /> Roger G. Hinson <br /> <br /> Upon m~ti~n of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner McClary and unanimously <br />carried, the resignation of Roger Hinson was accepted effective immediately. <br /> <br /> District Attorney James Roberts gave an oral report on the investigation conducted by <br /> the Attorney General's Office into purchasing of cleaning supplies from Wilmar, Inc.. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway ~ade motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel. <br />Motion seceded by Commissioner Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and carried, the <br /> Board adjourned executive session. <br /> <br /> The following letter from William R.
