Chairman Hawfield made motion to allow the health department to purchase moveable <br /> <br />equipment as requested except for the central dictating equipment and the X-Ray equipment. <br />Bids will be received for the dictating equipment. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett <br />and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway is to check with the Department of Social Services about a complaint <br /> <br />registered by W. L. Burkett that they would only allow him to keep $115 of his income if they <br /> <br />helped put his wife in a nursing home. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Motion <br /> <br />seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon mo~ion of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner McClary and carried, the <br /> <br />executive session ended. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to appoint Charles D. McGinnis as county manager effective <br /> <br />immediately and that we review the situation in six months as he has requested. Motion seconded <br /> <br />by Commissioner Hammett and vote carried with Commissioner Cook abstaining. <br /> <br /> Stuart Black, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Board of Education, appeared and discussed the <br /> <br />school budget. He requested that the county fund the two elementary guidance counselors, the <br />seven additional clerical personnel, the additional money requested for bands and athletics and <br />any resulting fixed charges. <br /> <br /> The ~oun~y Commissioners were unanimous that the amount appropriated for local current <br /> <br />expense to the schools was adequate for public education in Cabarrus County. The request was <br /> <br />denied. <br /> <br />Chairman Hawfield stated that the county was to receive funds from CETA II thru January. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Milloway, seoonded by Commissioner McClary and carried, to <br />hold a public hearing on the proposed minimum housing code on Tuesday, August 10, 1976, at 7:30 <br />p.m. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner McClary and carried the <br /> <br />following road petitions were approved: Request for addition - Claramont Street, Afton Run, <br />Linder Drive, Rockcrest Court, Fargo Street, Edinburg Drive, Dundee Road, Sardis Avenue, Abbey <br />Lane and Brownlee Drive. <br /> <br /> Commissioner McClary made motion to approve Commissioner Milloway as delegate to the <br /> <br />annual county commissioners conference held in Pinehurst. Motion seconded by Commissioner <br /> <br />Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Cook will be the liasion with the Planning Board. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Motion <br /> <br />seconded by Commissioner Milloway and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and carried, the <br /> <br />executive session ended. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion to appoint Patsy C. Moser as finance officer. Motion <br /> <br />seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and carried, meeting <br /> <br />adjourned. <br /> <br /> Cler~to the BOard <br /> <br /> <br />
