The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session at the Courthouse <br />in Concord, North Carolina on Thursday, September 9, 1976, at 9:00 A.N.. <br /> <br /> PRESENT - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> The invocation was by the Reverend Robert W. Bailey of First Baptist Church. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner McClary, the misspelled word in the minutes of the August 8, 1976, <br />meeting was corrected from carried to carrier and approved. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett <br />and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway made motion to appoint the following people to the Council on the Status <br />of Women, seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Jane B. Deal Mrs. R. F. Mickey <br /> Mrs. Carol Cooke Mrs John McClure <br /> Mrs. Joselyn Lyons Mrs Mike Harkey <br /> Miss Joyce Tobin Mrs G. C. Miller <br /> Rev. Bill LeMosy Mrs George F. Hahn <br /> Mr. Phillip Smith Mrs Arlene McKinney <br /> Mrs. Linda McSwain Mrs Susan Cline <br /> Mr. James Bell <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner McClary and carried, Ben A. Shue <br />was appointed to the Planning Board to serve a three (3) year term. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway made motion to appoint Gary L. Turner to the Community Relations <br />Commission. Motion seconded by Commissioner McClary and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield made motion to appoint Ms. Kathy McClorey to the Family Planning Advisory <br />Board. Motion seconded by Commissioner Cook and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Reverend Koehneke informed the Commissioners that applications for Community Development <br />funds have been approved and will be used in the Bethel Community. <br /> <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Hammett and unanimously <br />carried that the purchase of Moody's franchise for refuse collection by J & F Disposal Company <br />be approved as approved by the Board of Health. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield made motion to approve the following new description Boundary Lines for <br />Harrisburg Volunteer Fire Department Motion seconded by Commissioner Milloway and unanimously <br />carried. <br /> <br /> Beginning at point (1) at the intersection of U.S 29 and SR 1310; thence - <br /> southwesterly to point (2) at the intersection of SR 1305 and SR 1433; thence <br /> southwesterly to point (3) on SR 1300, 0.1 mile southeast of its intersection <br /> with U.S. 29; thence southwesterly to point (4) at the intersection of U.S. 29 <br /> and SR 1302; thence southwesterly to point (5) on U.S. 29 at the Mecklenburg- <br /> Cabarrus County Line; thence southeasterly along the Mecklenburg-Cabarrus County <br /> Line to point (6) on Lower Rocky River Road (1136) to point (7) at its intersection <br /> with Hickory Ridge Road (1138); thence northeasterly to point (8) on Lower Rocky <br /> River Road (1136) at the Reedy Creek Bridge; thence northwesterly along Lower <br /> Rocky River Road (1136) to point (9) at its intersection with Rocky River Road <br /> (1139); thence northeasterly along Rocky River Road (1139) to point (10) at <br /> Rocky River Bridge; thence in a general northwesterly direction along Rocky River <br /> Road and Coddle Creek to point (11) 0.5 mile northwest of the bridge on Roberta Mill <br /> Road; thence northerly to the point of beginning. <br /> <br /> The Board received petitions from Georgeville & Odell fire districts calling for the Board <br />to authorize an election to be held within the district to levy and collect a special tax on all <br />property in the district not exceeding 15¢ per (100) valuation of the taxable property for the <br /> <br /> <br />
