The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in <br />regular session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on <br />Thursday, February 10, 1977, at 9:30 A.M. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman: $. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John A. Hammett <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> <br /> The invocation was given by the Reverend Mark W. Andes <br /> <br />of the St. John's United Church of Christ. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion, seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway and carried, that the minutes be approved. <br /> <br /> County Manager Charles McGinnis stated that he had received <br />packets of petitions ab out 9:00 o'clock this morning. He did not <br />know the number of people who had signed the petition asking for <br />the continued funding and support of the Community Relations Commis- <br />sion. Commissioner McClary stated that he hoped a new commission <br />could be set up with new structure and organization that would adhere <br />to the original intent of the commission. Commissioner McClary made <br />motion that we repeal the ordinance that this commission was <br />organized under as of March 31, 1977, and the unexpended funds as of <br />that time be returned to the general fund. Motion seconded by <br />Commissioner Milloway and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion that our chairman be authorized <br />to send a letter of appreciation to all commission members and staff <br />who have served on Community Relations Commission and also offer <br />that some of these voluntarily, ~illingly help us in our study to <br />reconstruct it in our next budget year. Commissioner McClary seconded <br />the motion and vote unanimously carried. <br /> <br /> County Attorney John Boger stated that because legal requirements <br />had not been met the Harrisburg Fire D~strict boundary extension <br />hearing could not be held today. The hearing is to be held on <br />b~rch 10 at 10:30 A.M. <br /> <br /> Tax Supervisor Terry Rowland presented a summary of inventory <br />discrepancies. Commissioner Milloway made motion to approve the <br />listing and appraisal of these discrepancies, subject to a suitable <br /> <br /> <br />
