12 <br /> <br /> said election be held jointly with the Rowan County Board of <br /> Elections. <br /> <br /> The Recreation Commission recommended that no contract be <br />awarded for uniforms. Commissioner Hammett made motion to accept <br />the low bid for equipment and medical supplies made by Crutchfield's <br />Sporting Goods with a bid of $5,191.30. Commissioner Cook seconded <br />the motion and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Cook made motion to appoint John Hammill, Jr. <br /> <br />to the Watershed Commission for a six-year term beginning <br />February 15, 1977. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett and <br />vote carried. A letter of appreciation is to be written to <br />Mrs. Fred Harkey for the many years of service given by <br />Mr. Fred Harkey. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Chairman Hawfield, seconded by Commissioner <br /> <br />Cook and carried, the following road petitions were approved: <br />Requests for addition - Brafford Drive and Michael Avenue. <br /> <br /> Chairman Hawfield made motion to accept the resignation of <br />Charlie Sehorn from the Planning Board with regrets. Motion <br />seconded by Commissioner Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> The county manager is to ask the forester to supervise the <br />cutting and removal of trees on county property by citizens who <br />wish to use the trees for firewood. <br /> <br /> County Manager Charles McGinnis read a letter from County <br />Planner Jack Alston requesting an assistant. <br /> <br /> County Manager Charles McGinnis asked the Board for direction <br /> <br />in billing Harrisburg, and the Hospital for repairs and upkeep of <br />their vehicles. The matter is to be discussed during budget hearings <br />and the Town of Harrisburg is to be informed that they should budget <br />for vehicle maintenance beginning July 1, 1977. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed payments to the fire departments for radios <br />and maintenance. Commissioner Cook is to talk with the fire chiefs <br />and make a recommendation. <br /> <br /> County Manager Charles McGinnis reported that the City of~Concord <br />had turned over all Community Relations funds and had not given them <br />the 5% increase gr~nted by this~board. This adjustment will be made <br /> <br /> <br />
