30 <br /> <br />Commissioners in North Carolina and to the local representatives asking for <br />their efforts in the defeat of this bill. Motion seconded by Commissioner <br />McClary and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />carried, H. Vernan Hasty was appointed to the Harrisburg Zoning Board of <br />Adjustments. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the Health Department's request to be allowed to <br />hire a soils scientist. No action taken. <br /> <br /> After a discussion of a recent article in the newpaper, Attorney Boger <br />was asked to supply copies of the Union County Ordinance concerning massage <br />parlors. County Manager Charles McGinnis is to contact the person responsible <br />for the article and ask him to make a formal request at the next meeting. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />carried, the following road petition was approved: request for addition - <br />Hills-Dell Drive and Odell Circle. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett discussed the proposed abolition of training <br />schools for juveniles and the alternatives being considered. <br /> <br /> Upon the request from the North Carolina Department of Natural and <br />Economic Resources, Commissioner Cook was asked to get someone or serve <br />himself as the county representative on a Citizens Advisory Committee to <br />work on a Level B River Basin Study of the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the proposed personnel ordinance as ,,resented by, <br />County b~nager Charles McGinnis. <br /> <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />carried, meeting adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk t~ the Board - <br /> <br /> <br />
