29 <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the paving of Craighead Road and Penick Court <br />petitions which carried only 75% of the property owners signature. <br /> <br />J. P. Bush, representing the signed property owners, requested the Board <br />to assess the remaining property owners their cost for the paving. <br />Several other roads in the county have been paved without total particip- <br />ation. Commissioner Hammett made motion to accept the road petitions <br />and forward them on to the Department of Transportation. Motion seconded <br />by Commissioner Cook and vote carried. <br /> <br /> The Board of Equalization and Review set up meeting dates on May 26 <br /> <br />and May 31, 1977. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Hammett made motion authorizing the signing of the LEAA <br />contracts for the 250 foot tower and two mobile radios and three portable <br />radios. Commissioner Cook seconded the motion and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Sheriff Roberts presented LEAA grant applications for handie-talkies, <br />crime van and investigator, and mobile radios. The County Manager recom- <br />mended that the investigator be deleted and additional handie-talkies <br />for Kannapolis Police be added. Commissioner McClary made motion to approve <br />the grant applications as changed by the County Manager. Motion seconded by <br />Commissioner Hammett and vote carried. <br /> <br /> County Manager Charles McGinnis reported that receipts from the auction <br />sale held April 10, 1977 netted over $6,000.00. The Sheriff requested that <br />a new patrol vehicle be purchased with the proceeds. Upon motion of <br />Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner Milloway and carried, the <br />following budget amendment was adopted: <br /> <br /> To provide for the purchase of a vehicle to be used for patrol in <br /> <br /> law enforcement <br /> <br />General Fund <br /> <br /> Revenue <br /> <br /> Miscellaneous revenue, auction sale proceeds <br /> 10-335-00 $3,865.60 <br /> <br /> Expenditures <br /> <br /> Capital Outlay Equipment 10-5i0-74 $3,865.60 <br /> <br /> The Board discussed the proposed bill that would necessitate the housing <br />of male prisoners convicted of a misdemeanor and sentenced for less than <br />180 days to be incarcerated in county jails. It will be expensive to bring <br />the county jails up to North Carolina standards. Commissioner Milloway <br />made motion that a letter be written to all the Boards of County <br /> <br /> <br />
