We the undersigned do hereby request to the Board of County Commissioners to <br />re-establish the Fire Marshal's office as maintained by the prior fire marshal." <br /> <br />No action was taken. <br /> <br /> Financial statements from three franchised refuse haulers were given to the <br />Commissioners. A request for a rate increase will be discussed at the next <br />regular maeting. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Milloway made motion to appropriate $2,100 from the continguency <br />account to the forester for the purchase of a replacement truck. Motion seconded <br />by Commissioner Cook and vote carried. <br /> <br /> County Manager Charles McGinnis reported that a state grant had been received <br />to purchase a van for Title III Homemaker and Transportation Service with the local <br />share being $1,800. Money could be transferred from another line item to cover <br />this cost with no additional appropriation necessary. Commissioner Milloway made <br />motion to allow the Department of Social Services to purchase this van. Motion <br />seconded by Commissioner Cook and vote carried. <br /> <br /> Frances Long, Social Services Director, recommended that the word processing <br />unit be leased from IBM instead of purchased. This would allow the department to <br />use the system to determine if it met their needs, without actually purchasing the <br />equipment. Commissioner Milloway made motion that the word processing unit be <br />leased instead of purchased. Motion seconded by Commissioner Hammett and vote <br />carried. <br /> <br /> The Board discussed a road petition requesting paving for Sugar Hill (SR 1610) <br /> and Vine Wood Roads (SR 1611). <br /> <br /> The Board was aSked to consider a county wide travel policy. <br /> <br /> The plaque awarded by the National Association of Counties for the Cabarrus <br /> County Emergency Services was presented to the Board. <br /> <br /> Meeting adjourned until Tuesday, August 9, 1977, at 11':00 a.m. <br /> <br /> <br />
