Coordinator, stated that HUD had insinuated that a housing
authority would aid the county in receiving more federal grants.
Seven communities have been designated as areas that contains
unsafe or substandard housing. A housing authority would help
pursue a better housing program for the county. Manuel Kiser
stated that a housing authority may be more powerful than
anticipated and that some people may not be able to bring their
houses up to standard.

UPON MOTION of Commissioner McClary, seconded by Commissioner
Cook and unanimously carried, the following resolution was approved:

BE IT RESOLVED

1. That the Board of Commissioners find that there are

unsanitary and unsafe inhabited housing accommodations
that exist in Cabarrus County, and

2. That there be created a Cabarrus County Housing Authority,
and

3. That the Board of Commissioners designates itself as

members of the Cabarrus County Housing Authority.

At 10:30 A.M., Chairman Hawfield announced that this was the
time for a public hearing on the changing of a road name from
Wolfmeadow Acres to April Court.

UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, approval was given to change
the name of Wolfmeadow Acres Road to April Court subject to final
approval by the Department of Transportation. Motion seconded by
Commissioner Hammett and vote carried.

The Board discussed the letter requesting permission to change
the name of Rocky River Acres, Section #3 subdivision to Wandering
Acres. The County Planner was asked to tell Bobby Deaton that they
had no authority to do this and that they felt he should refile
the subdivision map in the Register of Deeds office with the name
change.

The following bids were received for an ambulance:

COMPANY BID BID BOND

Superior Coach Co.
Springfield Equipment Co.
Ben Mynatt Chevrolet
(CAB & CHASSIS ONLY)
Jim Simmons Buick-Pontiac

$ 21,370.00 X
$ 22,383.72 X
$ 7,327.10 X

$ 26,828.55

BID CERTIFICATION

X

X
