99 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in <br />regular session at the courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on <br />Thursday, January 5, 1978 at 9:30 A.M. <br /> <br /> Present - Chairman - S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. <br /> <br /> Commissioners: Robert A. McClary <br /> John Hammett <br /> Troy Cook <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> <br /> The Reverend Richard Stanford of Second Presbyterian Church <br />gave the invocation. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner <br />Hammett and carried, the corrected minutes of the December meeting <br />were approved . <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner <br />Milloway and unanimously carried, the following resolution was <br />adopted: <br /> <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br /> <br />CABARRUS COUNTY <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF PHILIP MORRIS <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Cabarrus County <br />at all times has endeavored to work for the best interest of the <br />citizens of the county and to provide for them opportunities for <br />a more productive and enjoyable life; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said County Commissioners desire to bring to <br />the county new and progressive industrial development; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said County Commissioners wish to provide a broad <br />and balanced diversification of economical growth for the county; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the said County Commissioners believe that the <br /> establishment of a new Philip Morris facility in Cabarrus County <br /> would be a progressive and beneficial step in the accomplishment <br /> of the foregoing goals; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said County Commissioners believe that a vast <br /> majority of the citizens of Cabarrus County desire for Philip <br /> Morris to locate their new facility in the county and would <br /> welcome Philip Morris to Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the County Commissioners <br /> <br /> <br />
