132

The unbelievable fact is that Road #2610 has been approved
for paving, while Road #2614 does not have a high enough
Priority.

We have spoken with Mr. John Q. Burnette of Charlotte,
Highway Commissioner for Cabarrus County, several times,
and the only information we get is that we have a road
count of 60 as compared to 100 on Road #2610. We are
all aware that a road count can be rigged.

We understand that Road #2610 was put before the Cabarrus
County Commissioners as top priority for paving by
Mr. Pat Patterson of Albemarle. We feel that the County
Commissioners approved this road for paving without knowing
that it should not have been given top priority at all.

Mr. Pat Patterson of Albemarle, when asked how this road
could possibly have received top priority, only replied
that someone in Raleigh asked that it be listed as top
priority. We feel that this is his way of passing the
buck and hoping that we will consider the matter closed,
but we do not intend to do this. Something is definitely
wrong here. The big question is how and by whom did
this road get misrepresented to the point of getting
to the top of the list. This is the type of dishonesty
of which we are speaking.

We, the six fimilies living on Road #2614, as Cabarrus
County citizens, paying the same high taxes as those
living on paved roads, resent our County tax money being
used to pave a road with no homes, no school buses, no
mail route, and little traffic.

We hope that during this meeting we will be able to
come to a fair resolution of this matter.

Estus B. White, Clerk of Court, administered the Oath

of Office to the Board of County Commisisoners as the Board

of Equalization and Review members. May 25 and May 30. were

set as their meeting dates to hear tax appeals.

Cable television service in Cabarrus County was discussed.

The County Manager was authorized to invite KWR Systems, Inc.

to the next regular Board meeting to discuss the matter f~rther.

UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner

Milloway and carried unanimously, the Chairman of the Board

was authorized to sign a letter to HUD as part of the 701

Planning Grant certification process stating that the Board

has reviewed the Land Development and Housing Plans.

Commissioner Hammett introduced the following order

authorizing bonds which was read:

ORDER AUTHORIZING $346,000
PUBLIC BUILDING BONDS

BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Commissioners for the County

of Cabarrus:

1. That, pursuant to The Local Government Bond Act, as

amended, the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina, is hereby
