131 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION o'f Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commissioner <br />Cook and carried unanimously, a ten-year lease was given to Camp <br />Cabarrus, Inc. for Camp Cabarrus property since there is no need <br />for other county use. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Jean Morgan, representing a group from the Shadybrook <br />area, presented pictures and letters regarding the residence of <br />Mr. Robert Smith of Rosewood Avenue. Commissioners McClary and <br />Milloway were appointed to investigate the matter. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner <br />Hammett and vote unanimously carried, S.R. 1530 was named <br />Wynnbrook Way. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of. Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Hammett and carried unanimously, S.R. 1529 and Extension was <br /> was named Riding Trail Lane. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Cook and carried unanimously, approval was given to the Cabarrus <br /> County Board of Education to purchase a tract of land owned by <br /> the E. L. Morrisons for $15,000.00. This money is to be taken <br /> from the Cabarrus County School's 1978-79 Capital Outlay Budget. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Cook and unanimously carried, this Board supports Mr. Spence <br /> Harwood with the following exhibit to the Highway Department <br /> in support to have this priority changed: <br /> <br /> To The Cabarrus County Commissioners: <br /> <br /> After careful consideration and much concern about this <br /> problem, we come before you to say that there appears to <br /> be some type of fraud in the highway system in our area. <br /> <br /> To illustrate our point, we first offer a comparison of <br /> two rural unpaved roads in Cabarrus County: <br /> <br />Road #2614 <br />1.4 miles in length <br />6 families live on this road (five <br /> are listed on the map) <br />1 Automobile garage on road <br />2 School buses drive this road <br />1 mail carrier drives this road <br /> <br />Road #2610 <br />1.2 miles in length <br />No houses <br />No buses <br />N--~ mail carrier <br /> <br />Ninety percent of the traveling on Road #2610 is done by <br />bootleggers from Stanly County (a dry County) going into <br />Mt. Pleasant-to buy beer and alcohol and drink on this <br />tree-lined road on their way home. Also, it is a very <br />popular lovers lane day and night, because of the lack <br />of traffic. <br /> <br /> <br />
