183 The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Thursday, August 10, 1978, at 9:30 A. M. Present - Chairman: S. Glenn Hawfield, Jr. Commissioners: Robert A. McClary John A. Hammett Marcelle Milloway Troy R. Cook The invocation was given by the Reverend Lanny Vincent of Covenant Presbyterian Church. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Hammett and unanimously carried, the minutes of June 29th, 1978, July 17, 1978, and July 20, 1978 were approved. Mr. McGinnis, County Manager, reported to the Board that the City was not ready to make a decision at this time concerning the Cablevision Franchise. Mr. McGinnis informed the Board of the Concord City Board of Aldermen's meeting to be held August 10, 1978 at 7:00 P. M. at which time the Cablevision Franchise will be discussed. In order to approve appropriations to the Boys Club, Rescue Squads, Volunteer Fire Departments, and the Cabarrus Workshop, the Board discussed the feasibility of obtaining written contracts between Cabarrus County and the above referenced organi- zations. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- sioner Cook and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Attorney, John Boger, to draft a contract and submit it at the next regular meeting of the Board. Chairman Hawfield asked if anyone would like to speak for or against the renaming of Arbor Lane to Birnam Wood. upON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- sioner Cook and unanimously carried, the road name change from Arbor Lane to Birnam Wood was approved. Chairman Hawfield asked if anyone would like to speak for or against the renaming of Evergreen Street to Stacybrook Drive. UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hammett, seconded by Commis- sioner Cook and unanimously carried, the road name change from Evergreen Street to Stacybrook Drive was approved.
