312 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus, North Carolina, met in <br />regular session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, the regular place of <br />meeting on Monday, June 11, 1979, at 9:30 A.M. <br /> Present - Chairman Troy R. Cook <br /> Commissioners: Ralph C. Bonds <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> J. Ray Allen <br /> The invocation was given by the Reverend S. Richard Dillon of the First Church <br />of God. <br /> There being no corrections or additions to the minutes of May 14, 1979, they <br />were approved as written. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and unanimously <br />carried, the Board set 6:30 p.m. at the next regular meeting on July 9, 1979, as <br />the time and date for a public hearing on the renaming of Meadowbrook Road, Mainer <br />Drive, Boger Drive and Central Drive. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the reappropriation of funds in the <br />Planning-Community Development Department budget for the purchase of a van for use <br />by that Department. <br /> Commissioner Milloway requested that Mr. Charles D. McGinnis, County Manager, <br />draft a book of policy for the Board. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the following appointments as Commissioners <br />to their respective Fire Districts with their terms expiring on March 31, 1981: <br /> <br />Enochville <br />Wayne Anderson <br />Cecil Perry <br />Alton H. Thigpen <br /> <br />Midland <br />Howard Troutman <br />Gilbert Black <br />John H. Biggers <br /> <br />Jackson Park <br />John Cline <br />F.B. Parrish <br />Walt Burr <br /> <br />Odell <br />Gernie Davis <br />Barnard Smith <br />Mike Johnson <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />unanimously carried, the following items were declared surplus property: <br /> <br />DECLARATION OF SURPLUS PROPERTY <br /> <br /> 7 Sheriff's Department Vehicles <br /> 3 Kannapolis Police Department Vehicles <br /> 6 Bicycles from the Sheriff's Department <br />38 Bicycles from.the Kannapolis Police Department <br /> 1 Zenith Black & White TV <br /> 1 Arvin AM/FM Radio <br /> 1 Black Vinyl Tape Case with 12 8-track tapes <br /> 6 Eight-track tapes <br /> 3 Packs of Polaroid SX-70 Color Film <br /> 23 Casette Tapes <br /> 47 "Thumb Thing Elre" Butane Lighters <br /> 2 Two Cell Flashlights <br /> 1 Westline ¼" Drill <br /> 1 Black & Decker Grass.trimmer <br /> 1 Minolta Auto Pack Camera <br /> 1 Bumper Jack with Tire tool <br /> 1 Smith & Corona typewriter with carrying case <br /> 3 Typewriters <br /> 1 Adding Machine <br /> Assorted, Damaged playground equipment <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, authorization was given to sell the above listed sur- <br />plus property at a public auction on July 21, 1979. Court depositioned property <br />will also be sold at this time. <br /> Ms. Alice Lee, a resident of a privately owned Tucker Road, was present to <br />speak on behalf of the residents of Tucker Road to request that steps be taken to <br />stop the riding and noise making of motorcycles along and in front of their homes. <br />Chairman Cook advised Ms. Lee that the Sheriff would be requested to go out and <br />talk to the boys who are riding the motorcycles if the residents call at the time. <br />Mr. John R. Boger, Jr., County Attorney, further advised that is the noise per- <br />sisted it would be the responsibility of the residents to initiate legal proceed- <br />ings through Juvenile~Court for any legal action to be taken. <br /> <br /> <br />
