406 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized Mr. Bill Morgan, County Forester, <br />to supervise the cutting and removal of seventeen (17) trees which are <br />diseased or dead on County property at the rear of the Health Department <br />by private individuals at no cost. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Conunissioner Lentz <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution. <br /> <br /> AMENDMENT TO CHANGE THE RESOLUTION CREATING <br /> THE CABARRUS COUNTY CIVIL PREPAREDNESS OFFICE <br /> TO <br />THE CABARRUS COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY <br /> <br />WHEREAS, on November 1, 1979, the Secretary of the Department of Crime <br />Control and Public Safety, exercising the power of his office as outlined <br />in General Statute 143, changed the name of the Division of Civil <br />Preparedness to the Division of Emergency Management. This name change <br />was in keeping with the reorganization at the Federal level and a new <br />direction and new responsibilities at the State level. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, all those local offices who were established by a Resolution or <br />Ordinance should make an amendment thereto, for submission to the governing <br />body, for a change in nomenclature. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the term "Civil Preparedness" be <br />omitted and "Emergency Management", as used in this resolution, be adopted. <br /> <br />/s/ Troy R. Cook <br />Chairman, Board of County Commissioners <br />Cabarrus County, North Carolina <br /> <br />This Resolution adopted on this the 12th day of May, 1980. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Manager to negotiate <br />with Peirson and Whitman for a price not to exceed $2,000.00 for additional <br />work performed by the firm to collect data on the water impoundment area of <br />the Cabarrus County Watershed Project as requested by the Soil and Water <br />Conservation Office. <br /> The Board designated Commissioner Milloway as voting delegate for Cabarrus <br />County at the 1980 Spring Legislative Conference of the North Carolina <br />Association of County Commissioners to be held in Raleigh on Friday, May 30, <br />1980. <br /> Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager, presented the proposed 1980-81 <br />Cabarrus County Budget to the Board. The Board scheduled a budget session <br />on May 20, 1980 at 7:30.P.M. in the Commissioners' Meeting Room. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive Session regarding <br />legal counsel on some County property. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner ~illoway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board moved to terminate the Executive Session. <br /> Chairman Cook stated no decision was made regarding the property. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br /> unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned until 7:30 P.M. on Tuesday, <br /> May 20, 1980. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
