425 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County 0f~Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina on Monday, July 14, 1980, <br />at 6:00 P.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: Troy R. Cook <br /> Commissioners: Ralph C. Bonds <br /> Marcelle Milloway <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> J. Ray Allen <br /> Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager, stated that the scheduling of a <br />public hearing at the June 9, 1980 Board meeting for 7:00 P.M. on July 14, 1980 <br />for the road name change of Houston Avenue to Dallas Avenue was in error as the <br />Kannapolis Street Planning Board is responsible for the renaming of this street. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the minutes of June 9, il, and 18, 1980 were approved as <br />written. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board by resolution declared two (2) voting booths and <br />one (1) ballot box to be surplus property. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Board of Elections to sell the two <br /> (2) voting booths at $45.00 each and the one (1) ballot box at $13.00 to Barber- <br /> Scotia College for the sum of $103.00. <br /> Mr. Aubrey Cheek, Dean of Continuing Education at Rowan Technical Institute, <br /> reported on the services provided in Cabarrus County by the Institute during the <br /> year July 1, 1979 through June 30, 1980. He presented the 1980-81 budgetary <br /> schedule for the $10,000.00 provided by the County for the Cabarrus County Program <br /> ~of Rowan Technical Institute. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Bonds and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board accepted the following schedule of expenditures <br /> as presented by Mr. Aubrey Cheek for the $10,000.00 included in the 1980-81 <br /> Cabarrus County budget for the operation of Rowan Technical Institute classes <br /> in this county. <br /> <br />Utilities <br />Lease <br />Part-Time Janitorial <br />Supplies <br /> <br />4,000.00 <br />4,000.00 <br />1,000.00 <br />1,ooo.oo <br /> <br />TOTAL $10,000.00 <br /> <br /> B. S. Brown, Jr., representing the Kannapolis Sanitary District, presented <br />the following resolution which was read. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION RELATING TO THE ANNEXATION OF <br />TERRITORY TO KANNAPOLIS SANITARY DISTRICT <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS FOR THE COUNTY OF CABARRUS: <br /> Section 1. That the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus has <br />determined and does hereby find and declare: <br /> (a) That on June 20, 1980 , a resolution was received from the Sanitary <br />District Board of the Kannapolis Sanitary District relating to the annexation of <br />territory to the Kannapolis Sanitary District. <br /> (b) That the territory described in the petition consists of the property <br />of Cabarrus Shrine Club, Incorporated. <br /> (c) That the petition was signed by all property owners within the area <br />requested to be annexed. <br /> (d) That said petition requests that all necessary action required by <br />Article 12 of Chapter 130 of the General Statutes of North Carolina for the <br />extension of the boundaries of the KannapOlis Sanitary District be taken so as <br />to annex the territory described in the petition unto the Kannapolis Sanitary <br />District. <br /> (e) That it is for the best interest of the Kannapolis Sanitary District <br /> and the territory requested to be annexed unto the Kannapolis Sanitary District <br /> that said territory be included within the boundaries of the Kannapolis <br /> Sanitary District and receive the services of the Sanitary District. <br /> Section 2. That the Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus does <br /> hereby approve the annexation of the territory described in the petition unto <br /> the Kannapolis Sanitary District and does hereby recommend to the North Carolina <br /> Commission for Health Services that it approve the annexation of the territory <br /> unto the Kannapolis Sanitary District. <br /> <br /> <br />
