438 <br /> <br /> The Board instructed the Planning Department to determine the front <br />lineal footage of the stree~ in the Spring Valley Subdivision and the per- <br />centage of the people who are willing to pay their share of the costs for <br />the paving of these streets. <br /> Mr. Frank Craven, District Forester, was present to request that the <br />Board appropriate $676.00 in County money to restore the forestry budget as <br />it was originally submitted for 1980-81 and allocate an additional $2,800.00 <br />to provide for an assistant county ranger who would be assigned by the State <br />to the County effective January 1, 1981. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />Unanimously carried, the Board appropriated $676.00 from the Commissioners' <br />Contingency Fund to the forestry service budget for a sum of $7,676.00 to be <br />provided in County funds for the forestry service for the year 1980-81. <br /> Chairman Cook requested that the Board receive quarterly reports from <br />the forester in the future. The Board deferred action on the appropriation <br />of $2,800.00 for an assistant county ranger until a later date. <br /> Mr. Ronald Overcash, local merchant, requested the Board to call for <br />a referendum for the ~ounty-wide sale of beer~and wine in the November election. <br /> Local ministers speaking in opposition to the sale of beer and wine in <br />the county included Reverends Gene Woodall, Farrell Shimpock, Marshall Brooks, <br />and Coy Privette. <br /> The motion made by Commissioner Lentz and seconded by Commissioner Bonds <br />to ask the Board of Elections to include a referendum for the off premises <br />sale of beer and wine throughout Cabarrus County in the November election was <br />defeated with Commissioners Lentz and Bonds voting for and Chairman Cook and <br />Commissioners Milloway and Allen voting against. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Bonds, seconded by Commissioner Allen and <br />unanimously carried, the following fire departments' roster of men were approved <br />for certification for the North Carolina Firemen's Pension Fund. <br /> <br />ODELL VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />Frankie Allison <br />Harold Allison <br />Bill Benson <br />John Benson <br />Robin Brown <br />Phillip Crook <br />Gernie Davis <br />O.
