463 At 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 1, 1980, the Honorable James C. Davis, Judge of the Superior Court, administered the following oaths of office in the Commissioners' Room. I, James HarOld Nash, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States; so help me, God. I, James Harold Nash, do solemnly and sincerely swear (or affirm) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the State of North Carolina, and to the constitutional powers and authorities which are or may be established for the government thereof; and that I will endeavor to support, maintain and ~defend the Constitution of said State, not inconsistent with the Constitution of the United States, to the best of my knowledge and ability; so help me, God. Davis JUDGE OF THE SUPERIOR COURT Judge Davis praised the following accomplishments of the Board of Commissioners during the past two years and charged the present Board members with the respon- sibility of representing all the people of the County and with the responsibility of cooperating with each other to maintain an effective governing Board. Land Management System Joint Mass Transit (Cabarrus-Rowan) Study Recreational Park Ambulance Service EMT-IV Training and Certification Program Senior Services Merger with Title III of the Social Services Department Stonewall Jackson State Property Lease Agreement New Ambulance Service Building Mr. Charles D. McGinnis, County Manager, presided over the organization of the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners. Mr. McGinnis called for nominations for Chairman of the Board. Commissioner Nash nominated Commissioner Cook and Commissioner Lentz nominated Commissioner Bonds. Commissioner Payne moved that nominations be closed. The vote was as follows: Voted for Commissioner Bonds - Commissioner Lentz, Payne, and Bonds Voted against - Commissioners Cook and Nash UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Cook and unanimously carried, the Board moved that Commissioner Bonds be elected Chairman by unanimous vote.
