Bonds <br />~(Chairman of the Board of <br /> County Commissioners) <br /> <br /> Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager, reported that the bid from Pole <br />Buildings, Inc., in the amount of $11,151.00 was the only bid received for <br />the construction of a building at the Sanitary Landfill. <br /> Commissioner Payne made the motion to award the bid for constructing <br />a pole building at the Cabarrus County Landfill to Pole Buildings, Inc., <br />in the amount of $11,151.00. Motion was seconded by Chairman Bonds. <br /> UPON SUBSITUTE MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner <br />Cook and unanimously carried, the Board tabled the award of the bid for <br />construction of a pole building at the County Landfill until the next Board <br />meeting and requested that Chairman Bonds, the Board's representative on <br />the Health Board, take the matter back to the Health Board to work out <br />any problems that seem to exist regarding the specifications such as <br />warranty, size of supporting columns, and proper treatment of the columns. <br /> Mr. Manuel Kiser, member of the Cabarrus County Health Board, <br />addressed the Board regarding the specifications for the building and <br /> the type of structure needed at the Landfill. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board authorized Mr. Manuel Kiser, member <br /> of the Health ~oard, and Chairman Ralph Bonds to make the decision to <br /> award the bid for the construction of the building at the County Landfill <br /> to Pole Buildings, Inc., if the company satisfies them regarding any item <br /> in question and the cost does not exceed $11,151.00. <br /> Chairman~B~nds stated that this was the day and hour scheduled <br /> for a public hearing for the naming of an unnamed road to Bondale Drive <br /> and asked if anyone were present who wished to speak for or against <br /> the road name. <br /> Mr. Floyd Jones, resident of the unnamed road, spoke in favor of <br /> naming the road Bondale Drive. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board approved the naming of an unnamed <br /> road off Flowes Store Road East as Bondale Drive. <br /> Mr. Alvin M. Stanford, County Extension Chairman, requested the <br /> Board's approval to install a permanent wall from floor to ceiling with <br /> door at the Agricultural Extension Building in order to set up a Plant <br /> Clinic made available to the County Extension Service through the State <br /> of North Carolina. He reported that this wall could be installed at a <br /> cost of $2,185.00 with funds from the present budget. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Payne <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board authorized Mr. Alvin Stanford to have <br /> a permanent wall from floor to ceiling with door installed at the' Agricultural <br /> Extension Building and to set up the necessary items in order to get the <br /> Plant Clinic in operation. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Nash and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board appointed Messrs. Ed Roy, Ed Rich, and Jerry <br /> Lock as Fire Protection District Commissioners for the Flowes Store Volunteer <br /> Fire Department. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board agreed for the County to furnish one deputy <br /> at the Cabarrus Memorial Hospital and the hospital to pay for all other <br /> deputies assigned to the hospital. This adjusted the Security Services <br /> Agreement, dated January 5, 1981, between Cabarrus County and the Cabarrus <br /> Memorial Hospital and authorized the reduction in the bill to the hospital <br /> for the period of January 23 through March 31, 1981, to reflect the shortage <br /> of one officer at the hospital during this period of time. <br /> <br /> <br />
