96 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, <br />May 3, 1982, at 9:30 A.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: Ralph C. Bonds <br /> Commissioners: J. Harold Nash <br /> Troy R. Cook <br /> James W. Lentz <br /> Kenneth F. Payne <br /> The invocation was given by Reverend Thurmond C. Plexico of St. James <br />Lutheran Church. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br /> unanimously carried, the minutes of April 19, 1982, were approved as written. <br /> Mr. Estus B. White, Clerk of Superior Court, administered the following <br /> Oath of Office to the Board of County Commissioners as the Board of Equali- <br /> zation and Review members: <br /> <br /> "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and <br /> maintain the Constitution and laws of the United States, and <br /> the Constitution and laws of North Carolina not inconsistent <br /> therewith, and that I will faithfully discharge the duties of <br /> my office as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review <br /> of Cabarrus County, North Carolina, and that I will not allow <br /> any actions as a member of the Board of Equalization and Review <br /> to be influenced by personal or political friendships or <br /> <br />obligations, so help me God." <br /> <br />/s/ James Lentz <br />/s/~ J. White <br /> Clerk of Superior Court <br /> The Board scheduled a meeting for 4:00 P.M. on May 24, 1982, in the <br />Commissioners' Meeting Room for the Board of Equalization and Review to <br />hear tax appeals. If necessary, the Board of Equalization and Review will <br />also meet at 4:00 P.M. on May 31, 1982. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board agreed by resolution for the Board of <br />Commissioners of Cabarrus County on behalf of the people of Cabarrus County <br />to donate the sum of $5,000 to the Cabarrus County Veterans Service <br />Council for the erection of the War Memorial. <br /> The substitute motion made by Commissioner Payne and seconded by <br />Commissioner Lentz to donate $2,000 to the Cabarrus County Veterans Service <br />Council for the erection of the War Memorial was withdrawn after discussion. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appropriated $5,000 from the Commissioners <br />Contingency Fund to the Cabarrus County Veterans Service Council War <br />Memorial project. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br /> unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following budget amendment. <br /> <br />SOCIAL SERVICES - PUBLIC ASSISTANCE <br /> <br /> Present <br />Line Item Approved Revised <br />Acct.
