Smith, Sr., Executive Director of the Concord Chamber of <br />Commerce; Mr. Parker Marks, Chairman of the Speaker's Bureau of the Chamber <br />of Commerce; and Mr. Bill Biggerstaff of Biggerstaff-Walker Advertising <br />Group presented the program and slide production planned by the Chamber <br />of Commerce to promote the water and sewer bond referendum throughout the <br />County. <br /> Mr. Jim Herman, Chairman of the Cabarrus County Parks and Recreation <br />Advisory Commission, requested a commitment of County funds for capital <br />improvements to Frank Liske Park for the fiscal year 1982-83. As presented <br />by Mr. Herman, the recommended budget appropriation for construction during <br />1982-83 at Frank Liske Park totaled $302,800 with a Land and Water Conservation <br />Fund (LWCF) Grant balance appropriation of $102,800 and a recommended local <br />appropriation of $200,000. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Cook with <br />Commissioners Payne, Cook, and Nash, and Chairman Bonds voting for and <br />Commissioner Lentz voting against, the Board approved an intent to appropriate <br />$200,000 in the 1982-83 budget for capital improvements to the Frank Liske <br />Park. <br /> Mr. Jim Herman announced that the official opening of the Frank Liske <br />Park would be held at 11:00 A.M. on June 4, 1982. <br /> Mr. Alvin Stanford, Agricultural Extension Chairman, introduced <br />Mr. James F. Miller, Jr., as the new extension agent in Cabarrus County. <br /> Commissioner Cook advised the Board that it had cost the County <br />approximately $1,000 in March for staff of the Department of Social Services <br />to prepare court-ordered home study reports for divorce and custody suits <br />not initiated by the Department of Social Services. He reported that the <br />Social Services Board had approved a recommendation that the courts require <br />those persons involved in such custody and divorce cases to reimburse the <br />County for the preparation of these court reports. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Chairman Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved a resolution to ask the judges <br />that Cabarrus County be reimbursed by those persons involved in divorce and <br />custody suits not initiated by the Department of Social Services for the <br />preparation of the court-ordered home study reports. <br /> Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager, reported that $59,548.42 in <br />delinquent taxes had been collected since February, 1982. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
