127 <br /> <br /> (i) To make investigations (along with other officials) of fires as <br />required by G.S. 69-1. <br /> <br /> (j) To assist fire departments in developing fire prevention and <br />pre-fire planning programs within their respective districts. <br /> <br /> (k) To assist school authorities, businesses, and other citizens in <br />developing fire prevention and fire education programs for their respective <br />facilities. <br /> <br /> (1) To develop a reporting system for the collection and use of data <br />concerning fires. <br /> <br /> (m) To coordinate the use of the communications system by the fire <br />departments to insure prompt notification and response to all fire calls. <br /> <br /> (n) Respond to major fires to coordinate the activities of fire <br />departments at that call. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the addition of Boulder Creek Lane <br />and Leatherwood Lane to the state road system. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing for 10:00 A.M. on July 6, <br />1982, for the following road name changes. <br /> <br />Autumnwood Drive to <br />Oak Drive to <br /> <br />Fallwood Drive <br />Albany Drive <br /> <br /> Commissioner Nash requested that a copy of 'the North Carolina General <br />Statutes pertaining to the naming or renaming of roads in Cabarrus County <br />be included in the agenda for the next Board meeting. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Dr. Lynn A. Hughes and Mr. Marty <br />Stamey to the City of Concord Planning and Zoning Commission for a <br />three-year term ending on June 30, 1985. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board reappointed Mr. Jesse Register to the <br />Mt. Pleasant Planning & Zoning Board for a three-year term and reappointed <br />Mr. Reece A. Kluttz to .the Mt. Pleasant Zoning Board of Adjustment for a <br />three-year term. Both terms will expire on June 30, 1985. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the appointment of Mr. Timothy J. <br />Wilkes to the Harrisburg Planning Board for a three-year term. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board appointed Messrs. William F. Yates and <br />David Desmet, Jr., to the Harrisburg Zoning Board of Adjustment for a <br />three-year term. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution. <br /> <br />We, the Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners, do hereby <br />assign and direct~ Derelle Kiser, Tax Collector, to use all <br />legal means to collect delinquent taxes including in rem <br />foreclosure on real estate, and attaching bank accounts and <br />any other personal property for personal taxes. <br /> <br /> Commissioner Cook recommended the appointment of a task force con- <br />sisting of representatives of the Cabarrus County, Concord, and Kannapolis <br />school systems, local business leaders, and private citizens to conduct a <br />complete study of all educational needs of Cabarrus County for the next <br />15 to 20 years. He proposed that this committee investigate the future <br />school needs of Cabarrus County from kindergarten to high school as well <br />as technical colleges and report its findings to the Board of Commissioners. <br />During discussion of this matter, the Board addressed the feasibility of <br />a local citizens group conducting such a needs study without the assistance <br />of a professional organization and the validity of such a study when <br />completed. <br /> <br /> <br />
