RATE OF PAY <br /> <br />The rate of pay, if any, to members for service on boards, commissions <br />or committees shall be established by the Board of Commissioners. <br />Records for pay purposes shall be certified by Chairmen of the <br />respective boards, commissions or committees and submitted ~by the <br />appropriate department head to the Finance Officer for monthly <br />disbursement. <br /> <br />E. IMPLEMENTATION <br /> <br />This policy shall become effective upon enactment. Ail subsequent <br />appointments to boards by the Board of Commissioners shall be carried <br />out under the provisions of this policy. <br /> <br />Any individual affected by the dual role provision of this role shall <br />be giYen the option of determining which appointment to retain and <br />any other appointments held by that individual to boards, commissions <br />or committees shall be deemed null and void unless waived by the Board <br />of Commissioners under the special circumstance clause of this policy. <br /> <br />Persons who have served on boards, commissions and committees <br />for a period exceeding six consecutive years at the time this <br />policy becomes effective shall serve until the end of the current <br />term or for a period of twelve months from the date of this <br />ordinance if the term extends longer than twelve months. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />In order to get more participation and involvement from county <br />residents, the county should advertise in local papers at least <br />twice each year of up-coming vacancies. Any application that <br />is received concerning the vacancies should be given careful <br />consideration, assuming they are qualified. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board tabled discussion of the naming and renaming <br />of roads in Cabarrus County until Chapter 1319 of the Session Laws of 1979 <br />(Second Session 1980) was obtained. <br /> Mr. Ben Mabrey, Director of Emergency Services, presented a report on <br />the extensive damages to agriculture and to private, public, and state <br />property which occurred in the county during the severe flooding on June 17 <br />and 18, 1982. He requested that the BOard write a letter to Governor James B. <br />Hunt, Jr., asking that he declare a state of disaster for Cabarrus County <br />because of the damages that were done during the flooding and the economic <br />impact the flooding will have on the future of Cabarrus County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Manager and Emergency <br />Services Director to draft a letter for the Chairman of the Board of <br />Commissioners to sign asking Governor James B. Hunt, Jr., to declare <br />Cabarrus County a disaster area. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Lentz and <br />unanimously carried, that Board adopted the following resolution. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by this Board that a resolution of commendation <br />and thanks on behalf of the government and people of Cabarrus <br />County is directed to all emergency services personnel and <br />citizen volunteers who rendered distinguished service in the <br />recent flood emergency that occurred in large area of the <br />county on the night of June 17, 1982. <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner N~sh, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized a pyrotechnics display at the <br />Carolina Mall at 9:30 P.M. on Saturday, July 3, 1982, under the supervision <br />of a licensed pyrotechnician. The raindate for this display is Monday, <br />July 5, 1982, at 9:30 P.M. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board agreed to allow a pyrotechnics display at <br />the Frank Liske Park at 9:15 P.M. on Saturday, June 26, 1982, under the <br />supervision of a licensed pyrotechnician. <br /> <br /> <br />
