140 <br /> <br /> Bids received by the Centralina Council of Government for meals <br />program in Cabarrus County were as follows. <br /> <br /> COMPANY <br /> <br />Ketner's, Inc. <br />Servomation Corporation <br /> <br />NET BID <br /> <br />$1.897 <br />$1.659 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Chairman Bonds and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the award of the bid for the <br />meals programs in Cabarrus County to the low bidder, Servomation COrporation, <br />in the amount of $1.659. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Cook, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following resolution. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County <br />that five (5) individuals, all of fine character and residents <br />of Cabarrus County, have been appointed a special Board of <br />Equalization and Review effective June 21, 1982 under the pro- <br />visions of North Carolina General Statute 105-322. This board <br />shall serve until their successors have been appointed with the <br />filling of any vacancy to be made by the Board of Commissioners. <br />It is desired the members familiarize themselves with the <br />appraisal process for valuation of property in Cabarrus County <br />and to that end they are requested to accompany the appraisers <br />at such times that is convenient with each member of the board. <br />Each member may submit a voucher to the Tax Supervisor for his <br />services in this connection. Per diem and expenses shall be the <br />same as that for official meetings of the board. <br /> <br />Bids received for the Cabarrus County insurance package were as <br /> <br />follows. <br /> <br /> COMPANY <br /> <br /> Shuford Insurance Agency <br /> 24 Cabarrus Avenue, East <br /> Concord, North Carolina 28025 <br /> <br /> Irvin & Davis Ins. Assoc., Inc. <br /> 901 Centergrove Road <br /> Kannapolis, North Carolina 28081 <br /> <br />BID AMOUNT <br /> <br />$37,552.°o <br /> <br />$40,650.00 <br />($500 deductible <br />option not given) <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board awarded the bid for the insurance package <br />for Cabarrus County to the low bidder, Shuford Insurance Agency, in the <br />amount of $37,552.00. <br /> Mr. Charles D. McGinnis, County Manager, presented a letter from <br />Mr. Ralph Austin, Mayor of Mt. Pleasant, stating that the Town Board of <br />Mt. Pleasant was requesting that the County Commissioners have the County <br />Planning Department file a Small Cities Application on behalf of <br />Mt. Pleasant for a community revitalization project. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Cook and <br />unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Planning Department <br />to submit a Small Cities Grant Application on behalf of Mt. Pleasant <br />for a community revitalization project. <br /> Commissioner Lentz informed the Board that Sheriff J. B. Roberts <br /> had advised him that because of manpower problems it would ba~diff±cult for <br /> his department to operate the new Communications Center in the basement <br /> of the County Courthouse and to monitor the equipment which will remain <br /> in the present Communications Center. He stated that Sheriff Roberts <br /> was requesting to continue to operate the present Communications Center <br /> as has been done in the past and to delay the opening of the new center <br /> in the Courthouse basement until additional employees are hired and trained. <br /> Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager, advised the Board that according <br /> to information received from the Centralina Council of Governments the <br /> new communications equipment has to be installed, operational, and <br /> accepted by the County by June 30, 1982, or the County will lose the <br /> grant funds for this equipment.
