149

The Board reviewed the request that Cabarrus County authorize retired
employees to remain under the County's group insurance policy with the
employees paying their own premiums. It was also noted that the County
could continue to pay the insurance premium for the retired employees or
could provide insurance coverage for them through a combination of these
two options. This matter will be considered at the next Board meeting.
Mr. Charles D. McGinnis, County Manager, recommended that the Board
authorize the County Manager to approve salary adjustments for County
employees based on recommendations from the department heads.
Commissioner Cook made motion, seconded by Commissioner Payne, to
give the County Manager the authority to grant salary adjustments based
on recommendations of the department heads in order to administer the
$50,000.00~budgeted in the 1982-83 budget for salary adjustlnents.
UPON AMENDED MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner
Nash with Commissioners Lentz and Nash and Chairman Bonds voting for
and Commissioners Cook and Payne voting against, the Board tabled the
matter of salary adjustments until a later meeting.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Nash and
unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned.

Clerk to the Board
