220 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Milloway <br />and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Commissioner Payne as the <br />Commissioner member of the Cabarrus County Board of Health. <br /> Mr. Fred Pilkington, Health Director, recommended the appointment of <br />Dr. Robert E. Hammonds as the physician appointment to the Board of Health, <br />and Dr. James S. Hunter as the dentist appointment to the Board of Health. <br />He also recommended that Mr. Mitchell W. Watts be reappointed as the <br />pharmacist appointment to the Board of Health. <br /> UPON MOTION of'Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the appointment of the <br />following professional representatives on the Board of Health for three- <br />year terms expiring December 31, 1985. <br /> <br />Dr. Robert E. Watts <br /> <br />Physician <br />Dentist <br />Pharmacist <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board set the salary for the new Sheriff, <br />Robert M. Canaday, at $27,500.00. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board amended the prior resolution and agreed to <br />classify the new Sheriff, Robert M. Canaday, at Salary Grade 75, Step 10, <br />on the Cabarrus County Pay Scale with an annual salary of $27,634.00.' <br /> Chairman Nash introduced discussion of the possibility of providing <br />some type of compensation for the remainder of the month of December for <br />Mr. J. B. Roberts, Jr., retiring Sheriff, who had not been eligible to accumulate <br />any vacation leave under the County's vacation policy. He proposed that the <br />County engage Mr. Roberts as a consultant for the areas of law enforcement <br />and the jail and place him on leave status for this period of time. Motion <br />made by Commissioner Lentz that the Board decline to take this action failed <br />for lack of second. No action was taken by the Board regarding Chairman <br />Nash's proposal. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br /> and unanimously carried, the Board appointed Chairman Nash as. the County's <br /> delegate to the Centralina Council of Governments for the year 1983. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />'unanimously carried, the Board approved the appointment of the following <br /> alternate delegates to the Centralina Council of Governments. <br /> <br />1st Alternate <br />2nd Alternate <br />3rd Alternate <br />4th Alternate <br /> <br />- Commissioner Milloway <br />- Commissioner Payne <br />- Commissioner Lentz <br />- Commissioner Barnhardt <br /> <br /> Chairman Nash called for suggestions for liaison appointments to the <br />various County boards and committees.
