That it opposes the sale of the Uwharrie National Forest and
urges the United States Government to reconsider its decision.
2. That a copy of this resolution be sent to all members of the
Congressional Delegation from North Carolina to encourage them to do all
that is in their power to prevent the sale of the Uwharrie National Forest.

UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhardt, seconded by Commissioner
Milloway and unanimously carried, the Board moved to go into Executive
Session to discuss land acquisition.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhardt, seconded by Commissioner
Milloway and unanimously carried, the Executive Session was terminated.
Chairman Nash reported that the Board had declined to purchase the
land adjoining the present County landfill as engineering data had indicated
that the land was unsuitable for landfill purposes. He further reported
that the Board had considered acquisition of other land not related to the
landfill and had authorized Mr. John R. Boger, Jr., County Attorney to
negotiate the purchase of the property.
Discussion of the item on the agenda pertaining to courthouse construction
was deferred until a later date.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Payne
and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned.

Clerk to the Board
