According
to the proposal, the costs for the new water supply on Coddle Creek would
total approximately $25,769,074.00.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Lentz, seconded by Chairman Nash and
unanimously carried, the Board by resolution agreed that they found the
water supply proposal favorable and that they would like todiscuss the
proposal further with the Concord Board of Aldermen and the Board of Light
and Water Commissioners.
Mr. Charles McGinnis, County Manager, advised the Board that there would
be a 60-day period from November 15, 1983, to January 15, 1984, for persons
with property adjoining the new water line along Highway 29 to sign up for
service. During this initial sign-up period, the fee will be $50.00 as
compared to a later cost of $250.00.
Mrs. Sue Casper addressed the Board regarding the problems of litter
in Cabarrus County and the need for citizen involvement to alleviate this
problem. She briefly reviewed the "Keep America Beautiful" program and
asked the Board to consider the appointment of a task force to further
investigate this program and report back to the Board regarding the feasibility
of such a program in Cabarrus County.
The Board tabled action on the request by Mrs. Casper until a later
date to allow time for the commissioners to obtain additional information
regarding the program. Also, the Board asked the County Manager to contact
officals in the counties of New Hanover, Onslow, and Cumberland regarding
the "Keep America Beautiful" program in each of those counties.
