443 <br /> <br /> CABARRUS COUNTY <br />WATER SYSTEM POLICIES AND REGULATIONS <br /> DECEMBER, 1983 <br /> <br />I - DEFINITIONS <br /> <br /> A. Owner <br /> The word "Owner" shall mean the person or persons holding legal <br />title to the serviced premises; but an owner, tenant or tenants leasing, <br />sub-leasing, renting or occupying a piece of property, or agent, may <br />make application for water service subject to the provisions of these <br />rules and regulations. <br /> <br /> B. Cross-Connection <br /> A cross-connection is defined as a connection from the authorized <br />metered service line of a water user, to the water plumbing system of an <br />unauthorized user, the purpose of which is to evade the legitimate process <br />for obtaining water; also, <br /> <br /> A cross-connection is a connection between a piped distribution system <br />carrying a potable public water supply and secondary piping system, institu- <br />tional, private or public, providing a water supply, the source of which, <br />prior to connection, is distinct from and unrelated physically to that of <br />the potable public supply. <br /> <br /> C. Development <br /> A portion of land, including any land from a one-family property to <br />a subdivision, that is being developed to the extent that water service <br />is desirable to realize its full potential. <br /> <br /> D. Subdivision <br /> The division of a tract of land into two or more lots, and shall include <br />all divisions of land involving the dedication of a new street. <br /> <br /> E. Oversized Mains <br /> A water-main extension which, because of future water demands or <br />other reasons, is larger than required for servicing the immediate adjacent <br />property. <br /> <br /> F. Petition <br /> The instrument by which water service is requested, and contains the <br />names and tax map information of those who desire water service. This <br />petition is used to determine preliminary feasibility. <br /> <br /> G. Application <br /> The completion of the proper form and payment of the established tap- <br />on fee. <br /> <br /> H. Plumbing <br /> Ail pipes, fittings and appurtenances on the property Owner's side <br />of the meter, serving only the property of the Owner, including the <br />extension from the service line up to and including all house plumbing. <br /> <br /> I. Service line <br /> The water line from the distribution main to and including the meter, <br />meter box, and corporation stop and other appurtenances installed by the <br />County. <br /> <br />J. Customer or Consumer <br />The actual user of the Water Service. <br /> <br />II - GENERAL RULES <br /> <br /> A. Location <br /> No water facilities will be installed under the provisions outlined <br />herein and accepted for ownership and maintenance by the County except those <br />in a dedicated public right-of-way or dedicated public easement. <br /> <br /> <br />
