McGinnis, County Manager, reported that Mrs. Frances B. <br />Long, who was appointed to the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee on' <br />June 4, 1984, was ineligible to serve as she has immediate family in a <br />nursing home facility. According to Mr. McGinnis, the nursing home <br />administrators were notified on June 6 of Mrs. Long's ineligiblity to serve <br />on the advisory committee and were requested to submit other recommendations <br />for appointment. No response has been received from the nursing home <br />administrators as of this date. <br /> Commissioner Nash nominated Mr. Max Dry of Kannapolis for appointment <br />to the Nursing Home ComMunity Advisory Committee. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board by acclamation approved the appointment <br />of Mr. Max Dry to the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee for an <br />unexpired term ending December 31, 1985. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Nash, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board approved the addition of the following roads <br />to the State road system. <br /> <br /> Addison Drive <br /> Pompano Road <br />Old Speedway Drive Extension <br /> Will-Etta Drive <br /> Melinda Avenue <br /> <br /> Ms. Doreen Devore, Chairperson of the Animal Advisory Committee, <br />expressed concern that the County Animal Shelter has no facilities to <br />house cats and presented the following recommendations from the Animal <br />Advisory Committee. <br /> <br /> 1. Add onto the existing shelter, a cat shelter. This would be as <br />wide as the existing shelter (19') and would add 16' to the lower end of <br />the shelter where the fence is now. <br /> <br /> The add on cat shelter would be built with blocks and a cement <br />floor with drains. <br /> <br /> 2. Build racks inside of this new shelter to hold "fold-away" cat <br />cages. The racks should be made to hold 6 cages to a row and 5 rows high. <br /> <br /> 3. 40 stainless steel fold up cages with a slide tray for durability <br />and easy cleaning. The ACO would only have to handle the cats only once <br /> <br /> <br />
