Robinson, Planning Director, reported that Cabarrus <br />County was eligible to receive up to $750,000.00 in grant money through <br />the Community Development Block Grant Program for Economic Development <br />and Community Revitalization projects. Stating that the County potentially <br />has projects that could be funded under each category, Mr. Robinson asked <br />the Board's direction in preparing applications on behalf of the County. <br />He reported that the Planning staff has identified several prime <br />community revitalization areas within the county and recommended that <br />the County advertise for prospective projects under the Economic Develop- <br />ment Program. The tentative schedule for submitting applications to the <br />North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Community Development <br />is as follows. <br /> <br />Economic Development - Cycle 1 February 1, 1985 <br />Community Revitalization and Development Planning-April 18, 1985 <br />Economic Development - Cycle 2 May 16, 1985 <br />Economic Development - Cycle 3 October 1, 1985 <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Milloway, seconded by Commissioner Payne <br />and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the Cabarrus County Planning <br />Department to apply for Community Development Block Grants for Cabarrus <br />County. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board designated Chairman Lentz as the voting <br />delegate for Cabarrus County at the North Carolina Association of County <br />Commissioners Legislative Goals Conference to be held in High Point on <br />January 16-17, 1985. <br /> There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting <br />was adjourned. <br /> <br />Clerk to the Board <br /> <br /> <br />
