187

Mr. Alex Rankin of Concord Engineering & Surveying, Inc., reviewed
plans to provide sewer service through the main outfall line on the
property. He stated that a temporary community water system would be
developed to serve the mobile home park until the County water became
available.
Mr. R. G. Faggart, Jr., petitioner, spoke in support of the rezoning.
Mr. Joe Ridenhour, member of the Cabarrus County Planning Board,
stated he was now in favor of the rezoning although he had voted against
the matter at the Planning Board meeting. He indicated there were few
available sites in the county for the development of a mobile home park.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt
with Commissioners Payne, Barnhardt, and Upright voting for and
Chairman Lentz and Commissioner Hamby voting against, the Board approved
Petition 85-13 by Robert G. Faggart, Jr., to rezone property on Fairbluff
Road off Highway 601, Map/PIN 5548-35-9368, from ARR to R-7.2.

(14) Petition 85-14. Withdrawn

(15) Petition 85-15. Ben Pigg, township 4, Biscayne Drive off Highway 73 W,
Map/PIN 5601-36-0205. Wishes to rezone from A-I to I-1. The
Planning Board approved this petition 5 to 0 feeling it was a good
location for industrial development and an I-1 zone exists nearby.

Mr. John Evans, Operations Manager for Alpha and Omega Transport in
Charlotte, requested approval of the rezoning to permit the establishment
of a trucking firm at this site.
No one spoke in opposition to the rezoning.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhardt, seconded by Commissioner Hamby
and unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 85-15 by Ben Pigg
to rezone property on Biscayne Drive off Highway 73 W, Map/PIN 5601-36-0205,
from A-I to I-1.

(17) Petition 85-17. Cannon Mills Realty and Development Corporation,
township 4, South Main Street and West "D" Street, Map/PIN 5613(07)-
58-4320. The Planning Board approved this request feeling the rezoning
would tie in with ongoing redevelopment plans for downtown Kannapolis.

It was noted that this petition included the entire block at South
Main Street and West "D" Street. No one spoke either for or against the
rezoning petition.
UPON MOTION of Commissioner Upright, seconded by Commissioner Payne
and unanimously carried, the Board approved Petition 85-17 by Cannon
Mills Realty and Development to rezone the property at South Main Street
and West "D" Street, Map/PIN 5613(07)-58-4320, from R-7.2 to C-2.

ZONING TEXT AMENDMENTS

(1) Petition 85-01.
