201 <br /> <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Cabarrus met in regular <br />session at the County Courthouse in Concord, North Carolina, on Monday, <br />April 1, 1985, at 9:30 A.M. <br /> Present - Chairman: James W. Lentz <br /> Commissioners: Kenneth F. Payne <br /> William G. Hamby, Jr. <br /> Archie Y. Barnhardt <br /> Marcelle M. Upright <br /> The invocation was given by Dr. Kenyon G. Meeks of Bethpage Presbyterian <br />Church. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the minutes of March 18, 1985, were approved as <br />written. <br /> The Board again reviewed the recommendation from Mr. Charles D. <br />McGinnis, County Manager, for the sale and disposition of two tracts of <br />land on McCachern Boulevard and approximately 13 acres on the north side <br />of Cabarrus Avenue parallel to Southern Railway. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Upright <br />and unanimously carried, the Board authorized the County Manager to receive, <br />solicit, or negotiate an offer to purchase property located on McCachern <br />Boulevard pursuant to G.S. 160A-269. The Board took no action regarding <br />the approximately 13 acres of land located on the north side of Cabarrus <br />Avenue parallel to Southern Railway. <br /> The Board received the request from Ms. Sue Casper, President of <br />Keep Cabarrus County Beautiful, that the second week of April be proclaimed <br />Keep Cabarrus County Beautiful for the year 1985 and henceforth. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board adopted the following Proclamation. <br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Cabarrus County as <br />follows: <br /> <br /> 1. That the second week of April be proclaimed "KEEP CABARRUS <br />COUNTY BEAUTIFUL WEEK" for the year 1985. <br /> <br /> 2. Ail of the citizens of Cabarrus County are urged to observe <br />this week by making all efforts to beautify the yards and roads of <br />Cabarrus County and to remove any unsightly materials from the roads <br />of Cabarrus County. <br /> <br /> 3. That all volunteers who work to keep Cabarrus County clean <br />and beautiful are commended and encouraged to continue their efforts. <br /> <br />This the 1st day of April, 1985. <br /> <br />/s/ James W. Lentz <br /> <br />Chairman <br />Cabarrus County Board of Commissioners <br /> <br /> Chairman Lentz commented on the coordination between a number of <br />volunteer fire departments and the City of Concord Fire Department in <br />extinguishing the fire at Winecoff School on Sunday, March 24, 1985. He <br />expressed pleasure with the excellent work by all departments. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Upright, seconded by Commissioner Hamby <br />and unanimously carried, the Board by resolution approved the addition of <br />Barfield Street to the State road system for maintenance. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Upright, seconded by Commissioner Hamby <br />and unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing for 10:00 A.M. on <br />Monday, May 6, 1985, to consider the naming of the following roads. <br /> <br />Unnamed Road to Fulton Court <br />Unnamed Road to Greg Drive <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Barnhardt, seconded by Commissioner Hamby <br />and unanimously carried, the Board approved the following new right of way <br />for sewer to supersede the recorded right of way in Deed Book 587, page 83. <br /> <br /> <br />
