257 <br /> <br /> Mr. Thomas B. Robinson, Planning Director, reported that the State <br />had asked that the Board of Commissioners add a portion of an existing <br />road, Brafford Drive, to the State system by resolution. However, he <br />explained that there is a road by the name of Bradford Road on the State <br />system and that the similarity between Bradford Road and Brafford Drive <br />creates problems for the Sheriff's Department as well as the Planning <br />Department. He recommended that the Board rename Bradford Road to Old <br />Bradford Road since it was on the State system prior to Brafford Drive. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Upright, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board adopted a resolution adding the following <br />roads to the State road system. <br /> <br /> Colfax Drive <br /> Thompson Drive <br /> Wimbledon Street <br />A portion of Brafford Drive <br /> <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board set a public hearing at 10:00 A.M. on <br />July 8, 1985, to consider the renaming of Bradford Road to Old Bradford <br />Road. <br /> Mr. Tom Dillard, Director of the Cannon Memorial Library, reviewed the <br />following bids received on June 10, 1985, for furnishings for the Kannapolis <br />Branch Library. <br /> <br />LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT DATE: <br />May 20, 1985 <br /> <br />VENDOR BID BOND CERT. Cannon Memorial Library, Kannapolis Branch, to the <br />low bidder, Interior Systems, in the amount of $ 94,250.00. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Hamby and <br />unanimously carried, the Board granted a permit to the Parks and Recreation <br />Department for a fireworks display at 9:15 P.M. on June 22, 1985, at Frank <br />Liske Park in conjunction with Superday '85. The fireworks display will be <br />under the supervision of Mr. Harold Sifford of Zambelli Internationale Fireworks <br />Company. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board granted permission to Cannon Village for a <br />fireworks exhibit on July 6, 1985, in downtown Kannapolis under the supervision <br />of Mr. Gary Partlow of Southern International Fireworks, Inc. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board granted permission to Carolina Mall for <br />a fireworks display at 9:30 P.M. on Wednesday, July 3, 1985, under the <br />supervision of Mr. Gary Partlow of Southern International Fireworks. <br />The raindate was set for 9:30 P.M. on Friday, July 5. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Hamby, seconded by Commissioner Payne and <br />unanimously carried, the Board granted permission to the Charlotte Motor <br />Speedway for a fireworks display on Friday, June 28, 1985, from 6:30 P.M. <br />to 9:30 P.M. in conjunction with "Focus on Charlotte" to be held at the <br />Speedway on that date. Mr. Gary Partlow of Southern International Fireworks <br />will be in charge of the.display. <br /> Mr. Ben Mabrey, Emergency Services Director,. reported that the only <br />bid received after two advertisements for communications equipment was from <br />Motorola, Inc., in the amount of $34,728.68. He stated that this equipment <br />would be purchased with grant funds for the Emergency Operations Center and <br />would provide back-up communications for the fire, ambulance, and rescue <br />operations in the county. <br /> UPON MOTION of Commissioner Payne, seconded by Commissioner Barnhardt <br />and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the bid from Motorola, Inc., <br />in the amount of $34,728.68 for the purchase of communications equipment <br />for Cabarrus County Emergency Services. <br /> <br /> <br />
